It depends. Opinions have varied since 2's release in 2006. Some people preferred 1 to 2 because it had a higher difficulty and a less button-mashy battle-system. The worlds were a bit more open as well. Although there were some, such as myself, who preferred 2 to 1. I personally think it built on everything that was good in number one. It had a better and more dynamic story(IMO). It added a couple of new things to the battle system as well which sent the series in an exciting new direction. It involved more FF characters and gave them more lines which is always a good thing. I think Kingdom Hearts 2 is one of my top 5 favorite PS2 games of all-time. So as you can see, you just have to play them both to develop your own opinion on which is better.

1. this should be on ps2 section of threads 2. since i like KH ill answer 3. i love KH 2 but KH1 was better, why because KH2 was a bit 2 easy i know it had proud mode but still IMO KH1 was better because 4 the first installment in the series it came on strong was very original and sora wasn't as cocky as he was on KH2, i actually was abit interested 2 know about roxas story and how he is related 2 ven ........................anyway KH1 gets my vote
KH2 had much better combat system with many combos and the drive forms, however it war more button mashy than KH1, I think the story in both games vary which is better
I agree with what that other guy said, it depends cause the first one had a higher difficulty which im sure people liked opposed the the second. in my personal opinion though, i preferred the second, it added alot more features to the game that made it so much more. Either way, both games were great and i await the next installment.
oh damn, ill go with 2, just because of its length and the whole drive thing with dual beyblades, i think that it was way harder to do everything in the first though, sephiroth was a heck of a lot harder in the first seeing as you were taking him on yourself, and the ultima keyblade was a lot harder to get in the first to, fyi this should be in the legacy forum ;)
Thank you all, and I haven't played either of them, I'm thinking of buying number 2, but will I be confused as to what is happening if I don't play number 1? Or can I jump right in and need no intruduction.
