Kutaragi "insisted" on Spider-Man font for PS3

That is true. The PS2 font looked good with the PS2 because it was squared. the PS3 on the other hand is more curved and the Spiderman Font goes well with it.

I remember Sheeps and Lemmings saying the Spider Man font sucked and Sony couldn't think of "their" own font and that they hated it.

but that didnt really explain why they chose that font specifically
