Imagine the backlash if THIS disappoints.

It sounds like it could be a mediocre as Killzone 1, unfortunatly.
Killzone 1 before it was released was seen as having amazing graphics, only it was to be a disappointment.
infinitely respawning enemies? Yuck.GUNpoint_
I hate that... you take one step back and you have to kill everybody again. ugh!! I hope this isn't true or else KZ2 = fail
Infinite respawns?
*Scratches Killzone 2 off the list*
Infinite respawns killed COD4 for me so i'm not even going to waste time on this game.
PRKiNG45
eh, i play different modes in that so it never bothered me. but having a limited amount of spawns is a lot of fun.

Did you guys read the article? It's not like KZ2 has infinitely re-spawning enemies throughout the entire game, the guy who wrote the article was talking about one little part in the level.

I didn't TBH... I just read that. Either way, I still expect it to not end up like that.

I loved that in CoD4. Its kind of unrealistic sometimes to be on a battelfield kill 3 guys and the army is wiped out. it was cool and forced you to take a different approach to the scenario.

Kind of mediocre review I think, not for the game, but for the lack of interest from the guy who did it. You can see that everything he does, he looks at the most minimalist thing just to be able to have a complaint. its just sad that people get paid for that kind of poor preview.

I think they can strike a balance between the two. Most people don't want infinitely re-spawning enemies all the time but on the other hand it's not fun to kill a handful of enemies and that's the end of the fight. If they can make it where 10 to 15 enemies spawn then when you get to another spot another large group of enemies will spawn that way the action level will stay brisk but you will have a little break between firefights.
Wow I don't think some of you read it. The enemies spawned in a far away distance, where the the previewer was sniping them off. The dev said just continue the level, because those guys respawn. Eventually he reached the place where the enemies were respawning - he killed a few guys and that was it. The enemies were not respawning and shooting at the previewer, it was not in his direct battlefield.
It is only meant to give energy and a good enviroment to the game for background effects etc...
that preview is far too analytical for me. i dont like when you get nerds on here who are extremely tedious about noticing every little flaw they can find. i will be playing through this game and won't notice ANY of the "negative" things they mention. lame, these guys need to get out moreronniepage588
You're on a video game board posting about video games. Please don't go around calling people nerds...
Secondly, it's their job to know a lot about games and notice both good things and flaws. Would you like every preview of every game to be "well this is a good part" and "you'll really like this?" How are going to tell the difference between a good game and a bad one? The flaws have to be pointed out as well.
Also, lack of innovation, depressing/boring level designs, lack of player choice, and noticable, cheap, infinitely respawning enemies aren't nit-picky issues. I'm not saying that all of that is necessarily true in this game or to what degree, but they aren't as trivial as you make them out to be, and they're not just for us video game "nerds" to notice.
But, by all means, if you want a game based solely on technical horsepower, then you can keep ignoring all of these possibly valid gameplay criticisms and just keep drooling over screenshots...

yeah, besides, the goal was to blow of the bridge to cut of their reinforcements. made sense to me

Um, do you really think that's going to be the only level with respawning enemies?
If that happens to be the case, then you can send me a message when it's finally released. As of now, i'm going to put it on the same level as COD4.

Ok this is disappointing... Infinite respaws... dont have idea how much i hate that in the games...
i never belived that i would say this but -1 point to Killzone2 :(
1-up and egm hate anything that isn't halo or gta.....ninjaxamsuhhh no they don't? they love mgs just as much so there goes that argument
Well if it does fail then there goes years of dev time and millions of dollars down the drain. This would be a massive, if not the final blow to Sony.jtdawg23
You surely are not following financial reports I guess.
Infinite respawns make a game more challenging, which I enjoy.heyheydoh
Never played old school Castlevania/Ninja Gaiden, uh??

They are actually different. In CoD4, the infinite respawns didnt hurt the game, they made it better, and more action packed. games like the old Castlevanias were different. Especially because in that time you had a HP bar, and in this you wont be having that, which means just lay low and you are ready to go all out.
If you havent played CoD4 SP mode you wont understand it.
wow 1up are idiots. "been there done that" shut up! gears of war had all grey color, kilswitch cover system. So what did that game do new? better grahix. Even call of duty 4 had "forced" gamplay. 1up is going to try so hard to find anything wrong with this game. winner-ps3Seems the checks kinda go in a circle from game to game. or from quarter to quarter :P Like one game will be certain sites, then another will be other sites lol.
Hum, you may want to click on the guys name in the preview, the dude that wrote this -other then having a very interesting choice of pictures (mainly for 1 featuring the PS3)- has NO PS3 games in his collection, and as for his favorites he seems to favor all things Xbox... Coincidence...?gekidami
Yea Ive done hoards of background looks, into some of these reviews. And many would be surprised at some of them. Ive found some that have sites elsewhere. That show their 60 and, surround sound. And all 60 posters and junk. And dont even own a PS3. One girl from "I think it was IGN?" "Would have to stick in some old dvd with content on them to remember." But one actually worked for Micro. A review of a PS3 game that worked for Microsoft, and I do remember it was a women.

Yeah that's something I'll never understand why developers put into their game. I'm still hoping KZ2 will be good.
I enjoyed Killzone a lot, until the snow stage with guys with grenades aiming precisely from very long distance, and the PS3 is stuck after anyway. The cinematic feel, varied environments, weapons (I liked the primary weapon with R1 and the secondary with R2, hope they keep it and not only grenades with R2), coop at times, climatic music were the qualities I liked in the game.
From what I've seen, I don't like the limited sight when you zoom on an enemy (I'm not good at FPS so having good vision is very important), I hope each different weapon has a different secondary weapon with R2 (I like the Helghast gun with the auto on R1 and big gun on R2.
Dang the things he picked on was all in cod4. Well I loved the sp mode of cod4 and if I remember correctly so did everyone else mostly. What he was saying wasn't bad for me to hear, but what was bad to hear was his tone when writing this. COD4 has all of this, geow had no innovation and wasn't halo 1 repetitive. So yea I just think he was hating for the most part for sure.
Looking at many gameplay videos, what I've come to notice is that the enviroment is going to be crazy with action going on non stop. So I'm very much still looking forward to this one.
How far is it from going golden?I mean they could still work out some of the things.
I dont get why they want to cut off sections, Id rather be lost in a huge world than to have a linear game

I read it and I thought the comments were hilarioius.
Did they expect to reinvent the wheel with gameplay? It certainly sounds like they expected as much. What's funny is this is the first time I've read a semi negative impression of the demo. Everyone else had glowing reviews so I'm not worried about it yet.
