I mean it's trailers really remind me of heavy rain with the detectives looking for clues and many ways to approach a mission and all, but it actually has gameplay too: gunfights, car chases etc. Also, the facial animations look PHENOMENAL. What do you guys think?

Definitely looks amazing. I'm a little skeptical still because of Rockstar's involvement (didn't like Grand Theft Auto IV but loved Red Dead Redemption) but so far everything looks great. If it has multiple endings then I'll consider picking this up sometime.

It looks really good. You can actively move around and shoot people rather than tap X, then tap O, then shake the controller... The only problem I have is that their faces look so real they make the movements of the characters' hands seem off by comparison.

I think that there's a thread about this already and everyone should post in there. ;)

Heavy Rain didn't have gameplay? That's news to me, considering it was a game...that you played.

LA NOIRE = Heavy Rain with a GOOD story?

Altiar25
If the implication is that Heavy Rain had a bad story, I must strongly disagree with this statement. I am, however, looking forward to LA Noire as well.

I don't call tapping buttons on the screen and shaking a controller 'gameplay'. I used to have a Justice League DVD in which there was a game where I had to dodge meteors using the DVD remote buttons. That was also a game.. that I played, but would you call that gameplay?

Well, technically, yes. It was a "game", that you were interacting with, or "playing", hence, gameplay.

I'll be getting it day one, simply because it's R*, and I've loved every single one of their games. This one looks really game-changing, and I love classic 40s noir films and this looks like one huge homage to those. Very excited.

I find it somewhat comical for someone with the sig, "End of Evangelion is the greatest film ever made" to criticize Heavy Rain's story. If you hate plot holes, I have no clue where your love for that movie comes from.

I don't think it's really fair to say Heavy Rain didn't have actual gameplay. It was just a new type of gameplay we weren't used to before. It put more emphasis on the story than the actual actions themselves. Like the producers said, it was more of a short-film than an actual game. The buttons were just there for tactile feel. What I do agree with though is that it seems L.A. Noire will have the same action elements like GTA but a top-notch crime story like Mafia II. I'm waiting to be pleasently surprised.

Exactly. Heavy Rain was more like a film. Yes it did have some sort of gameplay but not enough of it.

 Okay, but by MY definition of gameplay, Heavy Rain did NOT have gameplay.
