just got a gold on the first level. If you target something that you don't want, don't just re-target something else attack that thing and then keep going, I time my attacks with where I need to go to complete a mission. If I see a group of enemies flying toward my objective I go after them instead of the other ones.
I usually shoot fireballs at the group of enemies then rush in to kill the last few. If you rush in using circle it builds your rage meter faster and gives you a multiplier. And if you fight you get health, and your rage meter goes up quicker too and a higher multiplier so make sure you fight and use the stronger combos to defeat enemies quickly.
Now if those enemies are far away i shoot fireballs at other enemies that are in my way even if tehy are flying any direction. This way you get kills or at least damge enemies for later easy kills, Also make sure you use RAGE it givves you a carnage multiplier, and make sure you just kill everything in site. if they say only kill the barrage ships make sure you take out a few catapult ships while you are there too. Just kick as much ass as possible as fast as possible. Use RAGE to slow time down and for higher multiplier, avoid takedown kills as they take too long.
