Lair: IGN's Factor 5 interview

Secondly, Drakengard's gameplay was a very straight forward action adventure, good but ...; Lair is more like the game is playing an RTS with it's self and you're just trying to help your side win. panzor dragoon was a good game but I don't get how it was considered superb by GS. It was an OK shooter but if you're into dragons I'm sure you felt the same as I did with the whole plasma balls and laser beams from the dragons. It was also very linear. A good game but we've been longing of a true dragon game and this one seems to be it in all regards.Â
Anyone who likes this sort of dragon gameplay would be giving the developers very bit of good luck vibe they can so we may have a chance of experiencing even better gameplay for Lair 2 not over exaggerating one simple game mechanic as the make or brake and down fall of the IP.
then you're trying to suggest it's dynasty warriors with dragons? and you're deluding yourself if you think that that's not bad. it's corny. it's cheesy. i showed it to people who don't know anything about the game itself, from an animator's stand point.. it's cheesy. it's corny. and the dragon battles are a sell point. it's not a minor thing.. if dragon battles with big, medium sized and small dragons are gonna be the main feature.. from escort missions to all out melees.. if you have to do that lock on mode.. and sit there and watch that mess.. on a constant level.. that's not gonna grind on your nerves?
I'm not talkin about panzer dragoon either. only reason why i mentioned drakengaard is cause it featured similar aspects to Lair. that would include getting off your dragon to beat people.. or flying on your dragon to beat people. so they are part of the genre. be they good or bad.. they're still there.
and i do wish Factor 5 luck. i'm a try to keep an open mind with it.. kinda hard when you fanboys keep runnin into it saying.. oh but it's this and this... and when all you have to work with.. is the same material i have to work with. but my opinion is that. this game.. still needs work. the flight and fight should be more open ended. and if it's something for part 2. so be it. so long as they address it. it's all i want.

bra realize I'm trying to keep my mind open. i do realize it's early footage. that was explained pages ago. but we're talkin here and now. with what we do know. not what may.. but what is. if they have it.. and they opened up the combat. so much the better. because I'll be happy than.

like my man said, i'm still lookin forward to it.. it's just i'ma be a bit more cautious about it now. cause.. I love dragons.. please don't ufh this up.. i've been hype about it since the first trailer, where the dragon was in the rain and that's all you saw.. I want my dragon battles to be something to look forward to.. but not what i saw. but i'll keep an open eye with an open mind. and sprinkle some faith in it like you say. cause.. if they have to delay it.. so be it. i want my experience to be something nice.. not mediocre.. not.. cheesy.. nor corny.. isn't that what we all hope for? i don't care if we have to suffer a drought.. cause.. if it means hotness. it's worth waiting for.
Man, You're just too neagative for me. I don't need people like you to bring down my anticipation and love for this game. Your opinion is indeed your opinion. If you don't like the end product then that's you but I can tell you that I for one will supporting this game and with it being form Factor 5, it's not that hard to do. Bye.

that footage was shown in november right? now do you think that they just slabbed that gameplay up together the day b4 they showed it? NO. for all we know that presentation was months old b4 we even saw it.

the rest of the game.. i have 0 complaints.. it's just that 1! I WANT MY DRAGON BATTLES TO BE JUST RIGHT!

you don't understand how badly I want these dragon battles to be just right.
it's something i wanted to see for a very long time in a game. and.. the hype and hope i had.. saw the TGS for the first time when i saw the interview actually.. so.. yeah.. this is new to me. i didn't see that dragon on dragon battle.. or i was so hyped that i was blinded by it.. i don't know how i missed it.. but yeah! i'm hoping.. i'm really hoping. cause what i saw really hurt my feelings.

They just say that to try and add validity to their bashing. If you ask you'll see that though a lot of bashers have a PS3 they also prefer other consoles as their primary system. However, you have to remember that even people who hate the PS3 already have one or are getting one and they just want to take jabs cause they know it's becoming obvious that their primary console just doesn't come close to the gameplay experiences on the PS3.

i've done nothing but say my distaste about one particular aspect of the game, which is a selling point for me, maybe not for you. but for me, a major selling point. and hoping that it's changed. i understand it's TGS footage.. that was explained on the first page. still. it's all we have to work with. so i have a right to be disappointed. because i don't have proof of it getting better. i only have hopes. so i can hope. you should know.. hope is fragile. and i don't put faith on reputation on the company alone anymore. why? because someone can still mess up even with a good reputation. manglobe and ergo proxy is a very beautiful example, as is SC3 and Namco. both are still opinions but because they're my opinions, to me at least they're very valid. so.. you say ps3 will be my primary console. you're right in that. I have no intentions of getting an xbox 360 nor a wii anytime soon. and all i have with me here.. is my trusty baby slim ps2.. and my ps3. but.. of course.. you being a fanboy. you don't see that. so you're gonna sit there and tell me what i own like a true fanboy. because I apparently if i owned a ps3 have to have the same opinion as you. Lair is gorgeous. i agree. Aspects of lair's gameplay is fabulous. I agree. the concept behind lair is great. If it turns out to be the final product? i'll be happy with the demo. if they address it, and make the dragon battles better in the final product? I'm sold on the game. if they address it in the sequel? i'll buy the sequel. can you understand that? i doubt it? I'd be surprised if you even read this. I don't think Lair was ever meant to be a AAA consoler seller. It has always been AA top for me.deadkingdg
Same here....but I still think that it will get high AA. Regardless of scores though, this is one of the main games that has been prompting my eventual PS3 purchase. Based on what I have seen, the dragon battles in the air look pretty epic, especially with all of the stunning detail in the surrounding mountains, as well as the beautiful detail in the water when the dragon is flying over it....just amazing looking in my opinion. I simply cannot wait to play this game, myself.

kelindas02, not to sound like a jackass, but it would be much better if you typed more efficiently. Sure this is the internet, but don't just type up a massive wall of text with horrible grammar. I however, do see your point, Factor 5 should work on the close combat dragon vs dragon gameplay. Other then that, the game looks fantastic.
I'd comment, but the entire internet seems to think that my PC doesn't have Flash enabled, despite having installed the most recent version 25 times now.
I'd appreciate it if someone could upload this to youtube so that I can watch it on my PS3.
Anyways, I can't really say that I was expecting this game to get a AAA rating on Gamespot, what with the VF5 and Resistance reviews.
I was just expecting it to be the awesome fun that all of Factor 5's games offer.
lol Yeah I just watched/read the VF5 review. I love how Jeff says how good a game it is and then gives it an 8.1.I'd comment, but the entire internet seems to think that my PC doesn't have Flash enabled, despite having installed the most recent version 25 times now.
I'd appreciate it if someone could upload this to youtube so that I can watch it on my PS3.
