I just think the reviewers are too picky when it comes to games. If it deals with the sixaxis, most reviewers will hate the game and know the score down a bit, especially if they are forced to use the sixaxis. Now IGN in my opinion are not use to the motion sensing in the PS3 controller and expect it to be somewhat like the wii, their expectations are WAY too high.
I think Gamespot reviewers may give this game at least a 7 or 8 just because they've played/reviewed games already that force you to play with the sixaxis.I know Gamespot may have not liked Rub-a-dub but I kinda agree that the game felt more like a techncal demo than a full fledge game, sensing was very touchy but I did get all gold medals? Gamespot did like Flow, which FORCED you to use the motion sensing in the game. They said the controls were hard at first but they got use to it fairly quickly.
Because IGN really doesn't like the motion sensing of the PS3, I expect Gamespot to give Lair a reasonable rating. A 7 is a minimum but I don't think it deserves a 9, I'd be surprised if Gamespot did give this game a 9 though! Anyway, after reading multiple thread from multiple forum (not just this one), it seems the IGN reviewers were proven to be dumb as rocks when it comes to the Sixaxis motion sensing. People are grasping the controls quite quickly and even though they still would prefer the analogs, people feel that the game just feels right controling the dragon through motion sensing. As with everything new, motion sensing was hard at first for motion sensing novices but after a bit of practice and traingin time with Lair (or Flow), controls felt fine and easy to use.
I am one of the few that highly supports the motion sensing controls and I'm glad people have proven that with a little bit of time, become accustomed to the Sixaxis, some are even pro's at it (like me)! Again, this game may not be for everyone and alot of people will still not buy this game due to IGN's review because they are easily influenced by others, I still recommend people to at least try it. The game is great and other gamers agree, I'll probably from now on trust user reviews over main websites and magazine reviews because reviewers now a days are not very happy to please anymore, expect too much, and do not embrace innovation/change...some gamers are the same way which is sad. Thanks goes out to the people who didn't care about the damn reviews of this game and still bought it and proved it is really a better game than what people were saying. Keep posting and making threads that show that this game is worth trying out and for a few other like me, to purchase :)!
