What is better for a PS3 system? If you leave it on all day and only turn it off when you go to sleep or turning it on and off 20 times a day?

Put it on when you play and shut it off when you stop playing. I use the PS button to turn it on and off all day, I never touch the PS

I don't understand why people want to just leave it on all day if they don't use it. I usually play mine once or twice a day, otherwise I put it to sleep (Slim model, no real "Off" in my case").

Keep it on standby, there's no reason to leave it on.

do not leave your ps3 on all day if your not going to be useing it for hours at a time. that dpoes not mean you have to shut it down every time u get up to refill your drink or use the bath room. But just leaving it on for long periods of time when you not useing it or downloading something is pointless and waist electricty. plus its better for the system not have a rest. by that i mean while the system is on it genarates heat and heat is one of the killers of eclectronics.plu while its running your putting wear and tare on the fans and any other moveing parts.

The heat is the key. When anything goes through thermal stress it reduces it's life span in the end. By leaving the system on it keeps the temperatures close to a constant temperature all the time thus lowering the thermal stress a lot over constantly turning the system on and off thus creating more thermal stress by the expansion and contraction of the system every time it's used.

The ps3 slim doesn't have an off switch like the old fat models, it can only go into sleep mode, or else if you really want it off that bad, unplug it.

I have the original 60 gig. I turn mine off. It isn't recommended to even leave it on nor does it make sense when your not playing it. Besides wouldn't you be pissed to have it overheat and shut off while your asleep.

I turn my slim off when im done playing. The only downside for me so far is listening to the system crack and pop as it cools down for 10 minutes while im watching tv or going to sleep.
