Hi, I'm looking to get a ps3 soon (Really soon, just got paid from my coop job lol) and I was wondering whether I should get a ps3 now or wait a bit, because I heard something about a 40GB ps3 coming out soon for a cheaper price (not sure, never read much into it)? My only criteria is that I wanted a ps3 for SURE sometime before Christmas, so I can atleast use it for the December break before I start school in Jan again. Is it worth it to wait for anything? or am i better off getting it now?

Is it a high chance that there will be a price drop? Cuz im all for saving money, but I also want a ps3 right? It's gonna be a waste of time if I end up waiting and they dont drop the price much.

so i guess they didnt officially announce any price drops in the near future that I should be worried about?

I am guessing they are gonna drop the price before christmas because the big developers like se and analyst are clearly pushing kaz hirai to drop the price. Note kaz said that htere is no price drop planned for now but there is a possibility. Which means no price drop as of now but in the past sony always does this. Remember 1 week kaz confrimed no price drop than at e3 the 60gig price was drop in the us. Than they said rumble was not planned at all a month later at tgs it comes out, thats pretty fast if they weren't planning it...

Im going to say it now in clear terms, youll want as much HD space as you can get your hands on. Never cheap out, go for the most HD space they sell or plan ahead to get a 3rd party drive and install it yourself. Even 80gigs is going to fill up fast.

Until the PS3 gets a faster BD drive (which im guessing will happen before to long) many games are going to need caches stored on the HD. There is also the fact that many will choose to buy fullgames via PSN vs on disk which also takes up lots of space, this is of course not even including demos, movies, music, TV storage etc. The PS3 uses SATA 2.5inch 5400rpm drives (if I recall coreectly). Match those specs as close as possible and youll be fine.

When you think that 1 song from Singstar is like 75megs then suddenly even 80gigs looks small.

Just get the 80GB or the 60GB if its still around. Theres no difference between the them except hard drive space.
