Depends on how much you value your $60.
If you can still buy MAG in addtion to a few of the other great games coming out, I say go for it but if it is the only game that you can get the online only partkind of limits you.
Also, if you are a big FPS fan and you can only get one game, I would wait for BFBC2.
i guess i didn't ask clearly or should of restated my question. it's not the money i am worried about but is the game worth buying, what is more like? if i am a socom fan, would i enjoy this one or is it like cod?
thanks for the help.

Then, yes you should buy it.
More like COD but with squad based combat. Honestly I just couldn't get into the beta. I thought it was garbage. I'm going to wait for the full reviews though on legit sites and see what they say. This was a game I was super excited about and I hope it's not as much of a let down as I think it's going to be.
I've logged in 10 hours in the past two days and am only level 15. The game is really addictive, and the large scale battle are satisfying. I hate to break down the value of a game by simply hours, but for me this is a 100+ hour game, at least. I don't see myself tiring of it soon, esp. if I can find a good regular group to play with.
No game is worth $60 given how fast price drops have been happening. I'd say wait a few weeks and you'll find it for $40.DoomtimeI say 20$ is a small price to pay for a head start in a competitive multiplayer game.
EDIT: Oh, you said weeks, I thought you said months. Hmmmmmmm...

Yep weeks, recently Army of Two has dropped to $39.99 and Dark Void is 30 on ebay. Mass Effect is also $45 on buy.com and it just came out. So definitely worth waiting online for a deal.i guess i didn't ask clearly or should of restated my question. it's not the money i am worried about but is the game worth buying, what is more like? if i am a socom fan, would i enjoy this one or is it like cod?

It's developed by Zipper Interactive which is the studio behind the original SOCOM games on PS2. This plays more like Battlefield: Bad Company, with the SOCOM teamwork system. Yes the game is excellent. I don't really play online games because I just haven't really found anything to trip my trigger so to speak, this game however makes me want to play every minute of the day.based off the beta, game is pure garbage, zipper should stay to making socom....because this game is just epic failure...its a cute idea having 256 people playing but they just dont know how to make it work...it feels worse than playing battlefield, compared to playing modern warfare where evrything is smooth..(animation wise, gameplay wise)....besides no ONLINE only game is worth 60 buccs....warhawk was what 40? and that game was sweet...this tho..is not.
You are the WiikestLink good bye lol.based off the beta, game is pure garbage, zipper should stay to making socom....because this game is just epic failure...its a cute idea having 256 people playing but they just dont know how to make it work...it feels worse than playing battlefield, compared to playing modern warfare where evrything is smooth..(animation wise, gameplay wise)....besides no ONLINE only game is worth 60 buccs....warhawk was what 40? and that game was sweet...this tho..is not.

I want to know too, I really like MP games like Counter Strike and Day of Defeat.NotAFurryYeah, i haven't liked a game this much since counter-strike 1.5(yes i said 1.5, not 1.6). The gameplay is objective based, and you are compensated for working as a team much like in CS, although MAG is somewhat like battlefield 1942, on a larger scale and with much more unlockables and customization then CS, after you level up you can give objectives to your team-mates and unlock lots of things. It gives that "organized clan" feel in a war with people you do not know. Really satisfying and refreshing, haven't played anything like it.
trust me when i say the game is a hell of alot better then the beta,..based off the beta, game is pure garbage, zipper should stay to making socom....because this game is just epic failure...its a cute idea having 256 people playing but they just dont know how to make it work...it feels worse than playing battlefield, compared to playing modern warfare where evrything is smooth..(animation wise, gameplay wise)....besides no ONLINE only game is worth 60 buccs....warhawk was what 40? and that game was sweet...this tho..is not.

That is all you read? Okay have a nice day. I read this: Gameplay · Added ability for player to use knife during a reload animation. · Applied significant tuning adjustments for all weapons and armor. · Increased sprint duration before tiring by 30%. · Lowered XP requirements for levels 2 thru 4. · Lowered level-entry restrictions for Sabotage from Level 3 to Level 2. · Lowered level-entry restrictions for Acquisition from Level 5 to Level 4. · Lowered level-entry restrictions for Domination from Level 10 to Level 8. · Enabled proper level requirements for unlocking headgear, facegear, and uniforms. · Fixed problem with recoil/firing animation that kept playing for a few seconds after the player fires an automatic gun and uses knife swipe simultaneously. Interface · Fixed bug where incapacitated players' nametags would occasionally disappear. · Repositioned onscreen weapons for improved field of view. · Armory items (facegear/ headgear/ uniforms) reordered. · Removed helmets from "Loadout 3" for all factions. Graphics · Made significant increase in framerate during player-heavy games. · Changed light settings for all environments. · Polished recoil effect for better realism. · Fixed offset muzzle flash effect. · Tuned camera to shake more realistically when hit by bullets. · Adjusted "blur" effect for both normal sights and iron sights. · Added alternate reload animation. · New "light scatter" treatment for all skies. · Repaired various "weapon clipping" issues. · Enacted several particle fogging adjustments. Audio · Switched first-person weapon sounds to true stereo. · Moved first-person character interactions and weapon switches to true stereo. · Tweaked sounds effects relating to landing on surfaces. Technical · Added error display and queue panel updates to notify player when they've encountered a "join game" failure. · Made various server stability fixes and tweaks.[QUOTE="MrFanboy"][QUOTE="TheWiikestLink"] really? what did they add to the gameplay?TheWiikestLink
Guys there is some haters that no matter what just aren't going to like this game, same goes with the haters of Socom. Games that don't hold your hand, or require team work for you as a player to do good just aren't like by everyone (cod fans). They (cod fans) just don't even grasp the idea of a community, and how when you play enough you run across guys that play like you and at that time you send friend invites so tommorrow you can run together and over time you will see your kills going up and objectives being completed much easier. But it will take practice which (cod fans) hate, it will take teamwork which (cod fans) hate, it will take learning the maps. For what I've heard so far and seen Zipper has brought that same mentaility that made Socom great to MAG. In order to be good at a game you should have to earn it, through playing, knowledge of the game, coolness under pressure, stick skills aswell as you are as great as the weakest link in your team. A great game that has true lasting appeal can be played with a non stop learning process, like socom, you can always get better in that game. Not hiding in a corner shooting people in the butt to get a perk.

IMHO, No, it's worth $40, but then again where else can you play in a 256 player battle?...on a console.. It's worth it if you make it worth it ;)on the fence here, i am a socom guy. not a cod fan. is it worth my time. please help me make a decision.

The game plays somewhere between COD and Battlefield. The guns and aiming feel more like battlefield, but the running and jumping part is a bit more COD. So far I have had good luck finding teams with mics who were interested in using strategy to complete objectives, so that's good.
Overall, if you are an online FPS fan, particularly one that likes tactical, team-based play, I don't know why you wouldn't get it.
