First off, I'm not in the US I'm in Lebanon. Second, the PS3 here is pretty overpriced at $400 for the Slim model. Third, I can however buy the PS3 from Amazon, and today is Black Friday so it's $300 with 2 bundled games [Killzone 2 and inFAMOUS], both of which I do want. Problem: I know everyone says there's no region coding on the PS3 [I can use Google too] but some people do say games do have region codes so I'm not sure if games I buy from HERE would work on a PS3 I get from the US Amazon, or if games I get from the US [they're a lot cheaper there too] would work on a PS3 I buy here.

Now I'm assuming that the games are region free and this won't be a problem, am I correct? My main worry is Blu-Rays. I definitely intend to rent a few from here to watch occasionally and want the region code to, well, not block that. Does the PS3 come region-A encoded (from Amazon) directly, or can I register a region when I first buy it or something? I'm Region B so if I can do that that would be great.

Which would leave the NTSC/PAL problem. Pretty sure everything here is PAL, and in the US it's NTSC right? How would it work out for me if I get a PS3 from the US and hook it up to a PAL TV? And does this pose a problem to Blu-Rays/games that might be PAL/NTSC or something?

I'd appreciate a few detailed answers, I don't want to waste money. Thanks in advance :)

P.S: Kind of need to decide today or that Black Friday deal's going to be gone...

PS3's are region locked, along with movies and PS1/2 games. PS3 games are not region locked, so what I am saying if you get a US PS3 you can play all PS3 games but will not be able to play DVD's or BD's from your region on NSTC.

I'm from Switzerland, owning a Switzerland Ps3 and having 4 imported US PS3 games, all of them work perfectly fine. The PS3 is region free for PS3 games as you can see, but I can't say anything about Ps1/2 or DVDs/BluRay, somehow the information of the user here seem to differ and that's why I never imported them altough I heard of some from Switzerland that were able to play the ***. Bluray for Final Fantasy even though it's another region

I'm in Saudi and I bought my ps3 slim last week for $413 bundled with two blue-ray movies and they work just fine. You should know that the one I bought was intended for European market

Europe and Saudi are the same Blu-Ray region. Plus the games came bundled so it's a sure thing they'll be the same region as the PS3 no matter where you got it :P

Anyway thanks for the help, guess I'll have to get it from here if I want to watch Blu-Rays. Shame though, the Amazon deal was a killer.
