[QUOTE="BH14"] Marky Mark has had some decent roles, and has done a good job. However, his acting ability actually fit those roles. As long as he plays a serious/emotionless meathead he does pretty good. But trying to be sly/witty/funny.... no, I just don't see him pulling it off. 00Killaz00

How can Mark Wahlberg be such a "emotionless meathead" and he is getting rave reviews and oscar consideration for his latest movie in "The Fighter"? Wahlberg has a long list of great movies that he played in. He has an impressive resume. People are acting like Vin Diesel was casted. And Robert DeNiro is getting bashed now in this thread?! The man who played in Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas, Heat, Casino and Meet the Parents.

Where is the long list of better fitting actors than Mark Wahlberg and Robert De Niro? People complaining but not naming better fitting actors. Somebody said "Chris Pine" from Star Trek movie on movie board and I nearly spat out my cereal.

Well I always thought Drake should be casted as Morgan Freeman but that's just me.

I said serious/emotionless, meaning he does good in serious roles, too. Drake is anything but serious. Marky Mark does not have the sly wit and charm about him that Drake has. He can't pull it off. And all the DeNiro movies you named were made a LONG time ago, back when he was in his prime. The only one that was even remotely recent was Meet the Fockers and you should be ashamed to have brought that up for the sake of your case. That's like OJ saying "Look! The glove FITS!"

And the most suited actor for the role has already been named: Nathan Fillion. Drake's character was practically modeled after him in both personality and appearance. Unless you've seen Firefly you would never understand. Honestly, I'd rather see someone completely new that has an excuse for not pulling it off than someone I KNOW will not pull it off. Have you not seen Max Payne, man, c'mon! :P

Max Payne? Never seen it but a bad game so I doubt no actor could save that movie. Nathan Fillion looks a lot like Nathan Drake video game character and I am sure that is big reason why he was selected and also Wahlberg's price tag. I don't know much of Fillion's work outside of Slither which is a movie that I liked. I never played Halo or watched Desperate Housewives and White Noise 2. Serenity and FireFly? Never seen them because I am not big into Sci-Fi movies. Lets hope he does the video game justice and not make another "House of the Dead" translation.

I saw Firefly... what I'm saying is... we have Nathan Fillion as the actor BUT Morgan Freeman does a voice over!

I said Robert De Niro hasn't made a good movie in 10 years.

Taxi Driver (1976) - 35 years ago

Raging Bull (1980) - 31 years ago

Goodfellas (1990) - 21 years ago

Heat (1995) - 16 years ago

Casino (1995) - 16 years ago

Meet the Parents (2000) - 11 years ago

Thanks for proving my point.

Are you saying that you believe Roberty De Niro "forgot" how to act? He didn't forget how to act. He got older and he got lesser movie roles. It always happens in Hollywood especially with older females. Very few roles for older people. There isn't a huge demand for 67 year old leading male roles. They aren't casting 60 something year olds in movies like Taxi Driver, Cape Fear and Raging Bull. He is a great actor.... period.

He was a great actor, sure. But if he's been irrelevant for 10 years then suffice to say anything he's in will probably be bad, as is the trend with him these days. He chooses his roles. He is a classic, established actor and people will run to him to be in their movies. But he chooses his roles poorly and doesn't do a great job in them because he has nothing to work with. He does not have to tarnish his reputation by being in terrible movies. But that's the way it's panning out for him.

Mark Wahlberg seems like a terrible, terrible casting choice.

I'm not sure why Uncharted really needs a movie when the game is already an interactive movie.

Enid_Green
He was picked because he's the directors pal... Doesn't make him right for the part but i'm sure he'll do fine or atleast act like he's being paid for it....

Well, with so much hate towards this film, don't be surprised if it actually ends up being good. I can recall so many times where people have whined and complained about a certain movie or game or sport, when it actually ended up being really great. Too many people complain about something that didn't happen yet. Don't judge something that hasn't happened yet. Judge it after you watch it. Too many whiners and complainers these days.

I recall so many times when people have whined and complained about something and it turning out to be just as bad as every said it would. It's not a good sign that the people in charge are looking for star power instead of people who can accurately portray the characters. No disrespect to Mark Wahlberg, but I don't see him being able to pull this role off as he's a rather 1 dimensional actor. Not that he's bad at the roles that he's probably more comfortable with.

Well, its better to judge something after it happens. And not before. Because what if the movie actually does end up being really good?? Then, all the complainers would just look like complete idiots.

You're right. It could be good but the fans have good reasons to be upset and they're voiceing their opinion. I've seen some potential movies reduced to utter garbage thanks to obviously bad choices for casting and direction. When will Hollywood learn that the fans know what they're talking about and that you shouldn't stray too far from the source?

Uncharted is being made into a movie because obviously the games are awesome. If they change it up too much it'll fail no doubt. Some recent examples the come to my mind is The Last Airbender movie and the Scott Pilgram movie. The former was an abysmal movie and the latter was excellent. The former deviated from the source the latter didn't, simple as that.

Well, regardless of who ultimately appears in the Uncharted movie, one thing is definitely guaranteed...

Nercay

That it will be terrible? :(

Ding, ding, ding! That's correct, you win!

Well, there are rare exceptions to both cases, but they are very very very rare. Goldeneye (N64) and Silent Hill.

I forgot about 007, but yeah Silent Hill was a pretty good movie.... I still say that without hesitation though as the examples are far and few....

Why would they look like complete idiots? Everything that is being said is clearly speculation. There are reasons for thinking a future work will be bad or good. For instance, if there was a new movie that no one knew anything about that starred Lindsay Lohan, the immediate reaction would be "this movie is going to suck." There's nothing wrong with that. Because based on her previous works the viewer can determine that there's a high likelihood that this movie won't be good. If it turns out to be good, that's fine. Speculation is speculation and it doesn't = fact. And there will always be speculation, for everything.
