Without ME1? Useless, let it stay on the Xbox360 than.

It's like Asassin's Creedand Uncharted.(most games) You dont need to play the 1st one in order to enjoy it.
I played both AC/AC2 and Uncharted/U2, and trust me, I do value history and continuity. If there is any glimpse of history ever hinted on the second installment and I couldn't access the first one in order to grasp the history, I'd be truly sad. Therefore, my opinion stands as before, without ME1, f*** ME2.

lol no its not, its a straight up trilogy and on top of that, its a trilogy where you steer it. It really does seem pointless without the first game. Its really not that good of a series, from a RPG standpoint. The dialog is well written, but the overall storyline is not that stong. The RPG system in the game is very shallow and there is just not that mich to do/see/explore. Of all of Bioware's games, the Mass Effect series is really living off the hype train rather then the quality of the actual product.
If you want to play a good space RPG, get Star Ocean : The Last Hope. It's superior in every meaningful way gameplay-wise.
Why play a game on a console that can be played on PC =/ Glad to see it coming onto ps3 though, awesome game.
Prexxus
Many people such as myself don't have computers with updated enough software and hardware to play games like ME2. To play it we would have to update a lot of things which are very expensive, or we could just play it on a console which we already own...
what's offca..... never mind.
yea, continuity is a big thing to the franchise. i don't see the sense in releasing only ME2, but hey, that's better than nothin right?

You sir are absolutely correct. There is nothing more I hate than to play a sequel and not have played the original. I love it when games have a history and make you feel like you've been with the characters since the beginning. The Metal Gear Solid series does this the best because you need to play all of the games in order to understand the story. Luckily I have Mass Effect for the PC, so I have to finish it soon. I've gotten way too lazy.
They might be able to do Mass Effect "sigma" or something like that. Ninja Gaiden 2 was also published by microsoft but it somehow came to PS3. Mass Effect could still do the same. EA published the first game for PC after the 360 version came out, so the franchise technically belongs to EA. I wouldn't count the first game out just yet. Microsoft should have done something to keep the series exclusive and they dropped the ball. I feel bad for 360 owners. Everything third party is going multiplat and with almost nothing first party from MS, people are really getting screwed.
I sure hope they don't bring any more 360 exclusives over to the PS3 or you guys will be complaining forever.
It is funny seeing the other folks coming over here and trying their adolescent best to put some sort of negative spin on this though.

Are you so into calling other people adolescent (clearly implying that they know less than you, or even better, that their opinions have less weight due to age) that you can't notice that the complains ain't due to the port itself but due to the lack of the first installment of the series?
Can't you see it cripples the series for any possible PS3 player in a way that cannot be easily solved? It breaks any sense of continuity that's supposed to exist between the games?
Just imagine this, for a second.
Would you watch Matrix Reloaded after seeing just some flashs and "most important moments" feature of the first movie (Which was far better than the one you'd be seeing btw)?
The PS3 is a product, so of course it can't "make their own games" - That's the devolopers job. Besides, there are plenty of first party and third party games for the PS3, there's nothing wrong with expanding that libary with such a high rating game like Mass Effect 2. Why should it of stayed on the 360? Why deny people the chance to play a game like this?ps3 cant make their own good games or wat? it should have stayed on the 360

I was talking about was the guy who said it's sloppy seconds for $60.
As far as the lack of the first game "crippling" the series, dude, it's a video game. An intro movie explaining the events of the previous game will be fine. I'm sure it would be a more fulfilling experience if I had played the first game, but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

Well, neither will I guess, since I'll probably play it on the PC (when I get one that can handle the game, not like I'm in a hurry to play it anyway). But I guess I'll respect your opinion on that than, if you see no problem at all.

Edited the quote since I intended to make an apology and an statement where it was due. :)
