Metal Gear Solid 4, Not quite what I expected :(

I gotta say, COME ON HIDEO!!=!?!?!? WTF?

did you see tha AI? the movement of the enemies is the same from MGS2 AND MGS3, the same icon above their heads ( ! ? )

i thought i read somewhere that with the power of the ps3 they wont need those (? ! ) anymore the enemies will make their own faces, the camera probles are still there, it looks the same MGS but with Gears like controls

I m a big mgs fan but... i m feeling kinda disspointed @ Hideo i expected a little bit more.....

It is still early to pass judgement. But for any MGS fan, this is a must play. Keep your fingers crossed that the story, graphics, and controls are done with perfection. We will just have to wait and see.

MGS4 will definitely evolve the franchise from what has been shown.

Here are the improvements made to MGS4 which will please the fans of the franchise as well as get new gamers on board:

• You can now control the camera plus play in 1st person view if you like as well as over-the-shoulder-view.
• Octo-cam is an improvement over camo from MGS3, now instead of going to the inventory to change costume you can do it in the fly since the octo-camo changes depending on the type of invironment.
• Instead of having 1 or 2 big locations MGS4 will have 5 massive locations.
• Snake has a vast array of new moves improving on previous ones also, Deeply evolved CQC.
• Weapon customisation, over a 100 customisation.
• Control the MK Mark II to scope the lanscape as well as stun enemies.
• New Sixaxis mechanics that aren't overused and are intuitive.
• The battle between the 2 opposing sides allows you the freedom to choose which faction to aid and in doing so you can get different items and weapons depending on your choices.
• You will actually get to control Metal Gear Rex in an EPIC battle against Metal Gear Ray.
• Superb animation for each character and no jaggies what so ever

and I'm sure there are more vast and subtle changes which will make MGS4 appeal to all.

Believe me, MGS4 will own HARD !

Obviously you're not a long time MGS fan, or don't care what the series is about. The series has never been about extreme realism...hence the storyline. The question marks/exclamation points above the soldiers heads had nothing to do with the lack of console power. It wouldn't have been hard to change facial expressions...even on PSX. Would it have looked as good as it can nowadays? No...but they could've done it. It's just part of the game man...and if MGS4 didn't have it, I think a lot of the fans would be upset. The A.I. has also improved in each MGS so I don't see how you're complaining about it. It's definitely a lot better than most games.

If you want ultra realism...go play Rainbow Six or Ghost Recon or some crap. You obviously want MGS4 for the wrong reasons.

so you want them to make a game that has nothing that resembles classic MGS gameplay and call it MGS

well the AI has probly been dumbed down.

the ?'s and !'s are probly ther to make it easier on the players, i mean...why the hell wud i want to stare at the dudes faces to see if they noticed me! remember...when those ?'s and !'s com up ther body posture changes, thats enough for me, not to mention that i like the ?'s and !'s anyways.

i dont see how the power of the ps3 wud of helped with something like that, the PC and the 360 could probly pull something like that off as well.

Also, do you think that MG MK II will bring you a Javelin and a RPG?! No! It's a DEMO! The demo, just like MGS3's demo, gives you all the weapons and a buttload of ammo to show you all the cool things you could do!

First I can't believe this topic is still around , second It is better if you stop responding to this topic because they will find different excuses to bash it.

NO WONDER KOJIMA DOESN'T WANT TO RELEASE A DEMO, I still don't believe there will be one next month but will just have to wait and see.

Ok maybe the ! and ? are not such a big deal after all, but you gotta to agree with me that the AI of the soldiers sucks... i mean... just look at Resistance, the monsters, start searching for you all over the place, and wont stop until they kill you... in that video we saw.. the soldier stood there waiting for snake to come out...even when snake grabe one enime the other stood there like nothing.. i mean come on man..... they can do much better than that!

But Resistance is a shooter where the AI knows where you are pretty much the whole time and don't care if they die, take damage, etc. In MGS the soldiers look to kill u relentlessly too but have to spot you first and act with there own life at in mind by running away to grab cover if hit or holding a position to have there weapon's range grab the edge in battle etc

in that video we saw.. the soldier stood there waiting for snake to come out...even when snake grab one enemy the other stood there like nothing.. i mean come on man..... they can do much better than that!

in the demo the AI is on the easiest setting and still act somewhat realistic. I mean really in battle when you and your enemy both have guns do you blindly charge at him and when snake grabs one enemy the others think of a way to save there comrade from snake without blindly firing at him and killing there friend

Also the AI is extremly dummed down for the demo as to not hold up lines of people dieing if you played the previous MGS instalments you know the AI is smarter than that

Dude...I still don't see how you can say the A.I. sucks. Have you ever even played MGS2? If you tried to hide they'd send in the armored soldiers to clear the entire room an area at a time.

If you're idea of A.I. is them relentlessly trying to maul you without any type of strategy, order, or fear for their own life, then it ought to be called A.S. (artificial stupidity)

Soldiers are trained to be tactical. That's how they are in MGS.

what are you doing man? Are you comparing the AI in RFOM to MGS4? That's the dumbest thing ever. Do the CHIMERA even use radio communication to call back up? Do they search for you when Hale is hiding in a closet? NO. Stop being stupid man.

if you played any mgs you should know that thats just not true.. mgs2 had better ai than this demo.

Considering they are taking their sweet-ass time developing this game, I expected a lot more from it. After watching that video I am not excited for this game at all.
