 I don't know whether to be excited because i'm a huge metal gear fan. or disappointed because MGS4 was a lie.. (also Peace Walker was at one point called MGS5) hopefully this is another prequel.. I don't want them adding more crap after MGS4, that would just ruin it.

I am not excite. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Metal Gear Solid series. It's my absolute favorite franchise. But i thought it ended beautifully at the close of MGS4. Despite my confidence in Kojima's ability to pull it off, I am a bit worried that they're going to end up stretching the story a bit thin after it was SO huge in past installments. Of course, there's never anything wrong with more MGS gameplay.

I'm all for it. Though I'm wondering what they'll do for it and where it'll fit in.

I don't think he confirmed it. They're saying talks about MGS5 it might be something negative like "I might do MGS5 but now I am focusing on something else" so this might end up being in the interview. He never really confirmed that the game is being developed. However, he mentioned that he was thinking of doing MGS5 in the past(last 2 years) so maybe he will announce it soon who knows. I hope he confirms MGS5 though and I hope he directs it and produces it just like he did with MGS4 and Peace Walker. The man is a genius.

I think Kojima should just make his own interpretation of the MSX games but it would be silly to call it MGS5.... ...i'm willing to bet it'll be another prequel regarding Big Boss.

I thought the same way and then I played Peace Walker :P I believe Kojima can definitely still deliver a great story, I just wonder where he's going to set another game.

Rising is already a prequel. However, MGS5 might be set during Rising's settings but shows what Solid Snake was doing as Raiden was fighting during Rising. Who knows. But to be honest, I would rather have it a sequel, I really want to see the Patriots' fall aftermath and what happens to Snake. I hope I am not getting excited for nothing because if there is no MGS5 announcement this will be really disappointing -_-

Honestly, I think that would be the coolest thing ever. To most fans, since the story in those games is nearly not existent and most people haven't even played them, the events of Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 are giant question marks. We know that Snake bested Big Boss twice. We know it was in a place called Outer Heaven. Another place called Zanzibar Land. We know that Grey Fox was there. There were a bunch of dudes with really stupid names like Shoot Gunner. I'd love to see him modernize those games and add some deep narrative that makes them more essential to the story thus far. I doubt it would happen, but I'd really love to see it.

I second that. Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake should be remade. I am sure many people wanted that for years now and I think Kojima knows it but somehow is avoiding it at the moment for some reasons.

We thought that back when he announced MGS2. Same after MGS3. Same after MGS4. Same after Peace Walker. Rising is coming and MGS5 might finally show up!! I hope this is true because I have been waiting for this day ever since I heard Snake's last conversation with Otacon after the credits in MGS4 :P Please Kojima-san, let this be REAL!

i agree with Destruct. as awesome as Peace Walker is, i consider MGS 4 the proper end of the entire saga. i think - hope - MGS5 will revolve on a new character. there honestly can't be anything else that's meaningful to be told about Snake.

Personally i hope Kojima will focus on new or non-MGS IPs instead.... wait... wasn't that what he said he's gonna do after Peace Walker?

There is nothing wrong in doing a Metal Gear Solid game and a new IP. is there? Anyway, he is working on another game which he is calling "Project Ogre". Let's wait and see.

we're already at the end of the 7th gen... in all probability PS4 HAS to come out next year, two years max, or else it will be left behind. two years aren't exactly long for production of mega titles like MGS. so i actually think it's realistic to expect it on PS4.

Oh don't get me wrong, I don't think there should be anything else added to the story taking place after MGS4. I thought that was a great ending for the series and it doesn't need to be continued any further. I was more talking in terms of I didn't think there was anything else storywise that could have been done to the series that could stand up with everything else and make it feel complete, and Peace Walker definitely delivered in that aspect so I have faith Kojima can pull it off again.

I disagree. The 1st 2 acts you really didnt have to interact with soliders. Your objective was just to Go. Act 3 consist of 3 parts. Act 4 and 5 was nothing either.Act 4 was probably the most decent tough. This game had no objectives that you had to do before you progress.

True but I'm sure there are people like me that just recently purchased a PS3 because it was so expensive when it 1st came out. PS4 will definitely be a leap forward but will be mad expensive at 1st launch and as big a fan of MGS series I am, I would definitely have to wait a while before being able to spend that kind of money on a new console.

Here's my take on it:

  • MGS5 is real and will happen on PS3 as a timed exclusive.
  • The PS3 version will be special because Vita will be incorporated somehow (although not mandatory).
  • MGS4 was the end of the story...so far. I believe that Solid Snake will be broght back to life on PS4
  • MGS5 will deal with The Boss and other characters....we will see Big Boss get trained byThe Bossand learn how their relationship became about

It seems like Kojima is using a somewhat similar pattern like he did on the PS2. Release an updated MGS story (MGS2)then go back to tell an origin story (MGS3). So now on the PS3 tell an updated story (MGS4) and now go back and tell an origin story (MGS5). I don't count Rising as apart of the main cannon. IMHO MG Rising is like Halloween III.

You ignored Peace Walker, tho originally on the PSP and was declared a prequel by Mr. Kojima himself. Now its on the PS3 (The MGS HD Collection), so that would count as the origin story from your logic.

this is exactly what I want. The Aftermath. After the fall of The Patriots, most probably chaos occurred and governments distabalized because they weren't in control of anything all these years. I want to know what happened to Solid Snake and Otacon. Whether or not we will see any of the characters from previous Metal Gear games returning or is it going to be a new cast and new hero? We shall see. Until then, let's make sure that MGS5 is REAL and that OPM is not just hyping this for nothing.

Really? Because I have an Official Playstation Mag (from the US) with Kojima on the cover as well. It was just before MGS4's announcement. As for MGS5, great news. I trust Kojima to bring the heat even though I don't know who'd star in it or when it would be.
