ohh only can hope. Since when I bought the essentials pack my 60gb crapped out. so that just been sitting on myshelf
I have to say, I'm REALLY glad to hear "3 games" and not just 2 (which means the entire trilogy, not just Sons of Liberty and Snake Eater).
My only question now is, which Metal Gear Solid are they going to include? The original or Twin Snakes? I'm skeptical to think they'd "remaster" a PS1 game in HD so my money is on Twin Snakes (besides, anyone can purchase the original on the PSN; Twin Snakes is rare to find and makes more sense to remaster since it's a PS2/Gamecube-era game).
i peed a little. :DMrSelf-DestructI don't think that was pee... ;) This would be great! Easily my most wanted HD collection. Now it MGS4 would get trophies or a re-release, we'd be in business... :D

Twin Snakes would be much easier to raise the resolution on since it used the MGS2 engine, so I'm putting my money on it as well.[QUOTE="DrRockso87"]Twin Snakes would be much easier to raise the resolution on since it used the MGS2 engine, so I'm putting my money on it as well.I have to say, I'm REALLY glad to hear "3 games" and not just 2 (which means the entire trilogy, not just Sons of Liberty and Snake Eater).

Yeah. It makes much more sense but people that I talk to are skeptical Konami will remaster a Gamecube game for the PS3 just because Twin Snakes was co-created by Nintendo. It was published by Konami so there's no reason why they can't port it to the PS3.
I hope we hear Kojima or Konami confirm this by next week. As soon as this arrives I'm picking it up, selling my "essential" collection on the PS2 and downloading the original Metal Gear Solid on the Playstation Network for nostalgia. :D
I already own the essientials so unless it offers MGs4 in HD then No.Fightingfan
Wasn't MGS4 already in HD?

Yes. lol. I think he's trying to be funny. It would be excellent if Sony released the Metal Gear Trilogy in HD. The complete Metal Gear Solid Storyline in order. Which I goes something like MGS3 then The original Metal Gear Solid Then Metal Gear Solid 2. Then bringing us to MGS4. (Since MGS3 is a prequel) If they Also included the PSP metal Gear Solids That would be great.
If they included Metal Gear solid The Twin snakes that would be awesome. (although a remake of the original in HD would be O.K too)
This would be an excellent HD collection for the PS3. Even though I still have the original PS and PS2 games. I would buy this collection.

Anyone remember this picture? Hopefully this is true. This would give me reason to replay MGS4.
jocaju
I don't, when and where this picture was taken?
I can't remember when this first appeared but it was at least a good 3-5 months maybe. Someone on a forum posted this and looks legit but honestly, I'm no expert at detecting the differences between the actual box and this one.

It was a typo. They put trophies on there by mistake. Konami already confirmed this, but I'm too lazy to dig up a link. :PThey're making a remake of another remake. bcuz they've already released mgs essentials, so this is just anHD remake of another remake lol. They should add mgs4 with trophies and upgraded graphics in this.

How do you know he was telling the truth or not? He could have lied to keep the trophies from being revealed at a later date.
What? MGS Essentials isn't a remake. Its a collection. Its a rerelease even, but its not a remake. Twin Snakes was a remake but its not in MGS Essentials. They're remaking Snake Eater for the DS, but its not in MGS Essentials, either. So, this is..... just a remake; the first HD remake at that. And why would you want MGS4 with upgraded graphics? Cause this was ages ago? Why would he keep it a secret for so long? I mean, its always possible, but I just don't see why they would do that.[QUOTE="ExoticAnimal"][QUOTE="MrSelf-Destruct"]It was a typo. They put trophies on there by mistake. I know some people didn't play MGS4 because of there being no trophies and it would be smart on their part to add trophy support to get additional sales.
You made your point. MGS4's graphics were great, but the game was released in 2007. I'm sure they could make a lot more improvments.

Honestly, I don't know why they haven't done this already. All they have to do is turn the emblems into trophies and they'd be selling the game all over again. It just seems like they've waited waaaay to long. I mean, the game is so cheap right now and there are already so many used copies a sudden surge sales wouldn't be anywhere near as profitable as it could have been a year ago.Confirm it already, Kojima!
I already have Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance, the Document of MGS2, MGS3, MGS3:Subsistence, MGS: Twin Snakes, MGS (PSN version) and the limited edition MGS4 that only has the game, soundtrack and bonus blu ray. Point is, I'll still buy this.

they would try and use twin snakes, but it was made by Silicon knights, so i dunno how much stock they retain in the game....twin snakes incorporates the gameplay elements brought in by the later sequels (ie FPS mode)
I posted this in a previous thread, but if we do get a Metal Gear Collection, to make it truely complete, it has to include the following:
The Games
Metal Gear Solid + Special Missions
Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance + Document of MGS2
Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence (Probably minus online but with Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake)
MGS and MGS2 Digital Graphic Novels
I haven't included Twin Snakes because I don't know what the licensing issues are between Konami and Silicon Knights, and how easy it would be to transfer over, but if Konami can, they should release it, just for completion sake. It will also depend on the amount of effort required to remaster the original PS1 game. It would be amazing to see the game made from the MGS4 engine.
Features
Trophy Support
3D (at least for Snake Eater since it is being done for the 3DS)
Specs
Full 720p 60fps, widescreen support for all 3 games
High resolution textures
Extras
Separate cutscene and casting theatre viewer for all 3 games (like the one for MGS2 & MGS3)
Boss Survival for all 3 games with online leaderboards
Metal Gear Saga Vol 1 & 2 videos
Making of MGS2 DVD features included with European version
Soundtrack included for each game
All trailers remastered in HD.
Other
I would also like to see the packaging given the proper respect as well, with something along the lines of the Alien Anthology Blu-ray release, instead of the poor covers for GOW, Sly, POP and Tomb Raider.
If Kojima announces a PS3 release of Peace Walker, it would be nice to see at least the beta for it included.I don't think we would be able to get Portable Ops as well, but you never know.

Agreed with everything you said.
Should be given the utmost respect and attention for one of the flagship titles for PS.
[QUOTE="MrSelf-Destruct"][QUOTE="xboxfreak1"]Yes. lol. I think he's trying to be funny. It's sub HD. Yeah, its upscaled but it still displays at 1080p and looks damn good doing it. A LOT of games are made in sub HD and then upscaled. They're still running in HD, though.Wasn't MGS4 already in HD?
