I am thinking of buying MGS: Digital Graphic Novel, but I would first like to know: Does it add anything to the story of the MGS Universe (that I can't get from playing throughthe games), and also,is it entertaining to watch?

I'll like to know myself...:)...I wanted to rent it for a long time, but I've been hesitating if it's going to spoil anything from the main plot for me.

Well, if you havent played through the first MGS, it will definitely tell you what happened during the first one. As well as few little things that may not have been said in the first game. SPOILER WARNING!

for example, If I remember correctly, nobody really said that Decoy octopus assumed the identity of the Darpa chief. However this graphic novel tells that he does.

SPOILER DONE.

So to make it short it pretty much tells you everything that had happened on Shadow Moses Island.

If you are a hardcore fan of the series it will defenietly worth buying but if you are not (like me) and especially if you are not an English speaking person (like me again!!!) it wont do too much for you. Anyway, it HAS beautiful presentation and its fun to watch with some mini-game like features in it which make it more interactive and so more enjoyable but the lack of subtitles makes it a painfull experience for non-English users.

SPOILERS FOR MGS1 IF YOU HAVEN'T COMPLETED IT.

Actually, don't you find out Decoy Octopus was pretending to be the DARPA chief near the end when Snake's in the cell after being tortured and the real DARPA chief is in the same cell, dead, with all the blood drained out of him?

i found it highly entertaining to watch. The story in the novel it self is a little weaker thent the story of mgs 1 as some aspects of the story are shortened like the lengthly boss backstories after you kill them. But overall its a really good buy consdiering it much cheaper now and is highly entertaining to watch.

SPOILER
Well, it was a long time since I had played the game, and I was young when I completed the game, around 8 to be exact. But I was kinda lost when I saw the DARPA chief in the cell. Nobody had told me that the first "DARPA chief" I met was actually Decoy Octopus. "And I didnt know that he took in his blood until I saw the novel.
SPOILER DONE
