Are you all getting upset?
I have played MGS games from PSone. I don't remember if the weight system was actually used (I guess so), nor do I care to remember. With MGS, I was one to proudly defend the series whenever there were a few gamers that wanted to bash them or claim they were overrated. So yes I have played tehm. CALM DOWN. There is nothing wrong with a bit of realism in games, which can still be fun to play. There's nothing wrong with games that aren't as realistic as the next either.
[QUOTE="kenshinhimura16"][QUOTE="mrvic87"]How about they use a weight system. The more guns Snake carry, the slower he moves or the quicker his stamina depletes. If he moves too slow for you, you can drop a couple of those weapons. I do favor realism so I can see where the original poster is coming from. He doesn't appear to be complaining.
Hey this is a much better thread than that silly thread created a few weeks ago about Meryl's hair not moving in the intial MGS trailer.
Lamilia
Its been used already. Havent you guys played the damn games?
no they haven't...thats why they are complaining about stupid little things that hardly effect the game or even benefit it.
I know where the OP is coming from. I was kinda wishing there wouldn't be a bottomless pit inventory this time too.
Oh well.

thats nice of u to say
Sorry, I'm just honest.
It's a game and the point of playing. Stupid post. You could make this comment with just about every shooter out there.
Having the option to carry so many weapons don't make the game fun, it makes the it terribly easy. And you all will be the first to complain that it's too easy. So all this nonsense I'm reading about MGS being a fun game because you can carry multiple weapons is garbage. MGS will be fun no matter what the Kojima decides to do! End of story!mrvic87
you think metal gear is easy? Go buy mgs 3 and start a game on european extreme. If they wanted to make it annoyingly difficult they would make it so that snake's age effects him while you are playing and not just in the cutscenes but kojima isn't a moron so he will never make it so you have to baby solid snake and he also wouldn't make it so you have to find a tranquilizer gun while playing the main game then just before the boss fights make it so you have to find lethal weaponry...it wouldn't make it a challenge one bit it would just make it so you have to waste more time looking for guns. Also I can play mg3 the whole way through with just an assault rifle, a tranquilizer gun, and a knife but its more fun to have variety. So do you still think limiting guns would make it harder?
[QUOTE="winner-ps3"][QUOTE="Luxen90"]Have you ever played a Mgs game?Generalkill8888
yes just about all of them, and im sick of this carry infinity weapons thing
Then dont play it
lol, that's the worst piece of 'advice' I've ever, well, not ever, but recenetly heard.
It is a little unrealistic how he pulls a barrel out of nowhere but then again, that's what makes the gameply so cool. That you can hide in barrels and that you have so many different weapons at your disposal. If they were to make it like Halo or GeoW, it would take away a certain element which is part of the MGS experience.

There is no butt... And I disagree I love the fact that there is one "next gen" where you actually have more than two guns.
Don't you be dissing MGS or I will kill you old style ya heard! :P
I never said MGS was easy, having unlimited amount of weapons to carry would make it easy. If you have a set amount of guns, you can strategize on which weapons to carry at a given time. What is this nonsense Snake's age affects him while playing in MGS 3? If I am not mistaken, MGS 3 time setting was well before MGS2 so that would make Snake somewhat younger (i.e. the younger Revolver Ocelot in MGS 3). So I am not sure what your point is in terms of Snake's age.[QUOTE="Lamilia"][QUOTE="mrvic87"]Having the option to carry so many weapons don't make the game fun, it makes the it terribly easy. he switched to MGS4 halfway.
And its big boss in part 3.
And strategically choosing weapons is only fun in certain games. Why not carry all the guns if you are going to be carrying carboard boxes and barrels anyway?..
And the game would not get harder because of the "choice". The only way it could get harder is in a frustrating way. Like if you show up at the ends place and whoops you did not bring a sniper rifle.
You want strategy go play graw2 or rainbow six...Leave MGS ALONE

yeah I thought you would be able to tell I switched since I started talking about his age. If you want to get technical in mgs3 his name isn't big boss yet its naked snake. Also you missed my point if you want to make it harder with a set amount of weapons then just limit what you take out of the backpack. MGS isn't really about the guns since there is CQC and stealth elements you can pretty much never shoot a gun except during boss battles. You shouldn't be thinking of a weapon strategy you should be
thinking about your next move and if the enemy is going to catch you when you do it. This isn't a run and gun this is tactical espionage action. Don't look at the gameplay demo and think thats the way its going to be I think they just put in a bunch of actiony shooting to make the demonstration more interesting.

I don't really get why it bothers you, If your just really bothered about it being the most realistic possible then I don't think you should be playing video games, because what game is realistic? If you think having such a large asortment of weapons and items makes the game too easy then I think you are also wrong because I don't remember a mgs game ever being easy. The only way I could understand your complaint is that it may get annoying having to scroll through all of those items, but either way for me I like it because it gives you so many options for your game plan unlike the splinter cell games where you crawl around in the dark the shoot a guy with your silenced pistol everytime.

You are just wrong... the ability to carry one gun at a time was the OLD school gaming. Remember Contra? Remember contra 2, 3, and all the thousands of copies of third person shooters on arcades? You get 1 or 2 guns at every given time. then game evolved and characters can carry more items. If you think the trend toward carrying one or two guns as being new gen, you are plain wrong.
The ability to carry one or two guns at a time into battle is a limitation placed upon you (the player), It's also easier to make game balance on the devs. Andthisisrooted in the old school gaming.

omg, thank you for that whine job.what is this the first time you've seen an mgs game. do you want next gen to be realistic gen? if you want that much realism, i think it's time to put the controller down and tip your gaming hat.
"where doeshekeep all this crap?" lol. and metal gears, camo, human clones (snake), bird-like bombers, ultra-acrobatic movements (raidenVamp), immoratls (vamp), a hand a with a brain (liquid), etc, etc.are all realistic?*snaps finger*wake up!
OK?
I don't assume what a game will be like based on trailers. I have played almost every Metal Gear out so no need to tell me that it's a tactical espionage game. If it was a run and gun kind of game then having unlimited amount of weapons would be ideal, right?
So you all favor unlimited amount of weapons huh? You might as well just start the game with all the weapons. Advance from one point in the game to the next, perhaps to a boss fight, run down the list of all the weapons available, pick the most destructive weapon, kill boss, then move on. How boring...By having a limited amount of weapons (being able to hold enough in your backpack), it forces one to think strategically on what the next move will be to gain the advantage from the situation. That's what tactical means. That's the problem with some of you. Afraid to think a little to advance in a game. Remove the espionage part and it's nothing but run and gun and that's what you all favor. Blowing stuff up with the biggest gun. How boring.
I can't wait for MGS4 to come out.

Here's the problem with your theory, evidenced by the recently released Metal Gear Solid:Portable Ops
In PO, you have a limited inventory, and they do make you go along the side of realism. Though the game's difficulty comes into play here, and often times you may not have a certain item you need, you may be lacking healing equipment for the longer missions, you may be missing goggles, ammo, or the most effective gun.
Here's what makes all of this bearable though: MISSION BASED STRUCTURE. At any moment you can quit, re-equip, and re-enter the battle.
For your method of dropping weapons and re-arming later, the entire game has to be made accesable at any time from any location. Lets say in MGS2 you dropped a gun you'd really been wanting in the Tanker. They'd have to make it accessable at any point in the game. Honestly, I'm expecting some locations and crap to be blown to hell in MGS4.
Here's my number one suggestion: Play the game however you want. Only use the barrell when near other barrells, pretend that's where you got it from, pick only a handful of weapons you can use.
THAT'S WHY I love MGS games, you can either do a quick play through to enjoy the cinematic aspect of the game, or you can take your time and obsess over getting everything perfect. Enjoy it how you want to!

You've got to be kidding.
First you are stating that being able to carry all the weapons makes the game boring yet you insist you like the game...
And if you have really played the games you know that there is no All destructive weapon , And boss fights are never as simple as just plain schooting at the boss and killing them quicker than they kill you. And if there was an biggest baddes gun like you seem to think would you not just keep that one and use it the entire game ?
And why would you might as wel start the game with al the weapons? That makes no sense.
Its part of the fun of the further you go in the game the more and different kind of weapons you get.
In MGS 3 you already had a limited amount of weapon and item slots and the rest had to go in the back pack.
And you say switching weapons is what makes it tactical... not in a sneaking game.
You are talking about thinking ahead about the next combat situation and planning accordingly while every other person going against you is talking about sneaking and not getting into any combat at all... We plan ahead by checking camera movements and troop patrols and avoinding them as necesarry, not by picking the best weapons for killing the next couple guys and then switching when you start fighting other guys or change enviroment.
And just by saying us TRUE!! Mgs fans preffer blowing things up is just plain insulting.
First you are stating that being able to carry all the weapons makes the game boring yet you insist you like the game...
Find any post that insist I didnt like the game. Just because I don't favor carrying every single weapon doesn't mean I didn't like the game. Don't put words in my mouth!

I didn't say anything about using combat in every given situation. Strategizing for the next step which can mean anything from avoiding a patrol soldier to using CQC to taking him out with tranquilizer gun to move on. The original poster created this to say that he wanteda realistic experience where Snake wouldn't carry so many weapons and would like to see these weapons in-game on Snake when he moves. Even if I didn't like the game, I would recommend it to anyone as I am not like other gamers who say a game that is well designed or popular suck or overrated. This is starting to become amusing to me, so maybe it's best to end this now because it is going nowhere...

what about changing camos in MGS3, thats cool but very weird, i didnt like to change them so often. The game should have him change them depending on the area.
snake use the octocam (thats cool) hides on the floor then pulls out a barrel or a rocket! from where his @55? come on!
I thought the whole customizable weapons things, kojima talked about, would fix this, one gun and add parts and always have it on his body showing, that would be better!

Here you state that carrying unlimited weapons ..(by which I assume you mean being able to carry all of the weapons you find in the game).. The game would go like that... Which if you've ever played the games you know is not so.
uhm no.
So you are bassically saying that you would purposely choose a weaker gun?... Why would it matter if you carry all the guns then?
You state that being able to carry all the guns that you would get the biggest and baddest and use that, But here you say that you would not use the biggest and baddest gun if you could only carry a limited amount. That means you would also just use a weaker weapon if you had a choice anyway...
mrvic87

But what difference does it make ?, You can always do cqc and if yo uwant to be stealthy you'd better use the tranquilizer..
See MGS does not limit you by limiting you're freedom.. It limits by using the games mechanics... You haev the freedom to do what you want and use what you want but you'd better use the gun fitting the that part in the game best. Hideo kojima (i think) actually said that was the difference between gta and his games in terms of freedom... He is all for giving freedom but there need to be drawbacks when you do something that should not be done.
mrvic87
And you did state that carrying all the weapons would make the game easy... (and carry all the weapons you can) And then you state that you never said the game was easy.
Basically youre biggest problem is not being able to voice youre opinion properly... you overrule youreself(game with all the wepons is boringI never said it was boring, Game with all the weapons would be easy I bnever said the game was easy) and youre arguments are not always te most valid. ( you talk about switching guns being more tactical ...yes to some extent but the purpose of the game is limiting gun use to a minimum so you should use no gun or the tranquilizer throughout most of the game so that "tactical" aspect is not as important as the actuall avoiding tactical aspect.
Just because I have this position, doesn't mean I didn't like the game or experience. You are putting words in my mouth. umm yeah you pretty much said "I enjoy the game" and then you said something about being boring and "might as well start out with every gun" and already there is some strategy with the weaponry because at first you only have a few guns to choose from and figure out which works best for the boss but then later you get RPG- 7s and such and especially with the metal gears it becomes a strategy of where and when to hit. I don't know what to say at this point because I dunno if you like or hate the game...my head hurts.
