what he saidthat is awesome howeve I think Kojima can squeeze more onto the Blu-Ray disc because I have heard teqnically you can put up to any where from 75 gb- to 100 gb on the dual part of the disc even though it is only supposed to hold 50 but i dont know if I am claryfing this right
I cant wait for MGS4
Don't jump to conclusions. From every interview and such I've read, most of that seems to be going towards lossless audio...which will sound really good, but I honestly think it's a waste of space.
Oh and as I recall, Kojima only mentioned something offhand that he wants to use a 50 GB blu-ray disc.NickinAround
exactly. Kojima sais he needs a 50gb blu ray disc for the 7.1 uncompressed audio soundtrack. take that out and MGS4 could probably easily be done on a pair of dual layer dvd's
50GB + Kojima's mind + Snake = FMV Heaven!!!
THis is going to be the greatest game since Pong and Mario Bros.

nice philosophy
I do try ever so hard
(SPOILER)(SPOILER) the people making the game say youre wrong! :O!!!!!!!!!!!
MGS4 Can fit on a single dual layered disk :O!!!! -_- Seriously people MGS4 is not an RPG and Microsoft has very good compression programs, the best actually, i was reading up on xna.
Selfdestruct9
ok u could put compressed sound and all but isnt this next gen?? why do we want compressed?? we want all next gen, its not just graphics or gameplay, its the entire game, sound, graphics, gameplay. why do i want 2 out of 3 only??
i bought my next gen console i want my next gen games, it just hurts that devs have to go semi-next gen just cuz 9 million idio..i mean people bought a semi-next gen console.
my opinion.
This game is going to be awesome. I can not wait for those theatre-like cut scenes. They're going to be so long. Maybe that's why it'll be using 48gb of a dual layer blu ray.
"Kojima sais he needs a 50gb blu ray disc for the 7.1 uncompressed audio soundtrack"
this will be the first game ever made to be in 7.1 (very exciting)
most people dont know what that is, and dont even care, they just know ofgeneric "surround sound" they dont understand the whole concept of it at all, but how could you expect them to
but the very few people who do own a reciever capable of 7.1 (the minimum price for one is about a thousand bucks or more, then add on another couple thousand for 7 high quality speakers)are going to have the ultimate gaming experience when they play.
mine only does 5.1 dolby digital, with polk audio speakers,it sounds extremely lifelike whenplaying resistance(i would like to get a 7.1 someday) , can't imagine how good a game inuncompressed 7.1would sound, especially a game like metal gear
the only thing that blows is your gonna have to spend 3 grand if you want to get a quality 7.1 set up, which most normal people wont, most households are still using sd tvs with the tv speakers ( also realize that 2or 3grand for a set of speakers is quite a normal price, true audiophiles will spend 10 grand on just one pair of speakers, and im talking 7) the brands that you see for low low prices, (jensen, etc.) are made out of paper platesand practically worthless
and sony is a good company that makes good tvs and all, but when it comes to sound their speakers just do not match up to infinity or polk audio, etc.
in a nutshell.... about 5 percent of ps3 owners are going to care about the 7.1 audio or even are capable of utilizing it, as for the future, who knows

Hehe. Yes, by all means, continue dreaming.
Kojima himself said that there was already 40 hours worth of cut-scenes done in 06. That would not fit on DVDs--Unless you decided to downsize video quality, but I sincerely doubt he's done that.

That is one of the funniest anaolgies I've heard in a long time.
[QUOTE="shogoh"]If it's really 48GB (which I really doubt), it will be because of the pre-rendred cut scenes (movies)... not because of game content.el_rika
MGS games NEVER had and NEVER will have prerendered cutscenes.
You say that like it's a good thing:roll:. Then you can be certain MGS4 won't be 48GB.

you have no idea what you're talking about. however i sort of doubt it will be that big too, unless it's epically long, runs in 1080p with extremely detailed environments, and the sound design really does end up taking a significant amount of space as has been rumored.MGS4 will take advantage of all of PS3's capabilities, this includes, SIXAXIS, Blue-ray, SPU's and the Cell.
MGS4 is made for the PS3 as Kojima has said many times. THE GAME IS GONNA ROCK !

SPUs are in the cell. Not 2 seperate things. And blu-ray has no e.MGS4 will take advantage of all of PS3's capabilities, this includes, SIXAXIS, Blue-ray, SPU's and the Cell.
