Theory about what we just saw:

It seems one of the 5 areas in "Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of The Patriots" will actually be "Shadow Moses" island in Alaska.

However, it seems OLD Snake is on a mission to Shadow Moses to retrieve Metal Gear REX(seen in the TGS 2007 trailer) but while on route, he seems to go back to the days he was actually fighting in Shadow Moses, back to 2005 in MGS1. The trick is, he is actually dreaming but instead of using MGS1's graphics engine, they used MGS4's graphics engine. So basically, YOUNG SNAKE is Snake from MGS1. OLD SNAKE was just dreaming.

[QUOTE="jakndaxter7223"]It could be the time between MGS2 and MGS4 because Snake had the Octocamo, which was non existant in MGS1 and Shadowmoses looked really desolate, like after the whole incident. So I think that after MGS2, Snake went back to the ruins of the fortress for some reason.Star650

dude- shadow moses was completely destroyed- remember it was bombed...so no it cant be between mgs2 and 4, its basically him having a dream that he is back there- and because of the fact that he is wearing the suit in the chopper he is dreaming wearing it. also- its not exactly a real location- its definitely a dream, he arrives there from a path that never existed.

I think you need to play the game again, because Shadow Moses didn't get bombed, it was called off after Campbell got in touch with the president who at that time was George Sears(Solidus Snake)

If I remember correctly from reading In The Darkness Of Shadow Moses, it was actually Richard Ames and The Patriots who called off the bombing after Jim Houseman gave the bombing orders without their approval. They were then going to retrieve the data from Revolver Ocelot and use Houseman as a scapegoat for the whole thing.

Well, Campbell said that at the end to Snake by codec, and seeing as Solidus was placed by the Patriots could be the same. I didn't read much about that article, because I played MGS1 and know the story.

I might start MGS2 and read that article because it was a long time ago that I read it.

Campbell did say that but we never knew what was happening behind the scenes. ;) "In the Darkness of Shadow Moses" is a must read!

I read it, but I only read it 6 years ago so for me to remember all that is hard and that trailer we just saw is still in my head and I wish the game would come out tomorrow.

That's true, Campbell got in touch with the President, but The Patriots knew what Houseman was up to anyway because they were monitoring everything Snake did and said throughout the whole mission (via his injected Nanomachines).

Solidus was already in trouble with the Patriots anyway, since he was actually the one who staged the terrorist's uprising of Shadow Moses. He did this by getting his right-hand man Ocelot (who Solidus did not know was actually an agent of The Patriots until Ocelot revealed it in MGS2) to persuade Liquid to pull off such an event. In the meantime Liquid would think it was his own doing this whole time.

You can read In The Darkness Of Shadow Moses on the web as well. It's a deeper insight into what went on behind the scenes.

It would be so cool if they actually remade the game. Maybe that's coming down the pipe... :o. It wouldn't be by Kojima, though.

damn you guys jumped on me- i totally forgot- and i already corrected myself

the thing is though guys- that particular scene in the trailer WAS a dream- he didnt simply hop back in time or go back there and retain a healthy younger look.

yeah, which was odd because it would make more sense to show twin snakes graphics do it- i HIGHLY doubt they use mgs1's graphics for these parts like somebody mentioned- clearly theyre using mgs4 engine for the dream sequences. purhaps theyre just dreams to f*** with youre head

as apposed to the dreams being meaningful. they just want you to experience whatever snake is.

Dont really understand why so many people seem to think its a 'dream', the 'young Snake' thing will most likely be some sort of face mask (proof being that the first time it was shown was at a point in the game where its now a known fact we'll play as Old Snake), the costume is probally an unlockable to. As for the actual place, seriously, its not even set at the same time of day, Snake enters thru a different way, the guards are gone and the lights are off, I think its pretty obvious Snake will have to pass thru Shadow Moses in MGS4 (as seen in an older trailer) . We are then treated to Old Snake waking up, is face is that of Solid Snake from 98, this obviously shows us that what ever get had just been dreaming about was in MGS1's gfx.... Kojimas APRIL FOOL message replay tells us quite abit to.

who know what goes on in Kojima mind... only the man himself knows. However, like many said that you will get to play Snake flash backs with the younger Snake like we show in the video.

Just imagine old Snake past away in the mid battle field or something happened that knock him out cold... however he will go into a dream stage where he will be reminiscing his past as younger himself and you will get play as young Snake in the dream.

However, remember in MGS2... for those who didn't play this game... this contains spoilers--- During The Big Shell incident, we didn't know what happened to Snake those two years when the Big Shell was being built... hopefully we will get find out one of Snake's flash backs.
