No. MS had nothing to do with it. The backers of HD-DVD paid the studio to put it on hd dvd and not blu-ray

I think the story goes that the HD-DVD Group (which includes MS) paid $150 million to Paramount for 18 months of HD-DVD exclusives (I think a clause was added so that Spielberg films can be Blu-Ray). Anyway, we will have to wait quite a few more months to see what Paramount decides to do when this contract ends.

I chose not to buy Transformers, I am going to wait and hope it sees a Blu-Ray release in the future.

Spielberg wouldnt allow him to put it on blu-ray because spielberg feels that hd-dvd is superior so universal i believe wouldnt back it up either though bay wanted him too because bay just wanted to support both but old man spielberg didnt

Bu tthe backers of HD-DVD are Toshiba, M$ and a couple others. So if you are suggesting that M$ didn't contribute to the huge amount of money from the HD-DVD camp, then you are incorrect.

I find it hilarious that you come here to waste your time if you aren't into ps3 blue-ray stuff. What a waste of time for you! Maybe you should relax and watch a movie on your Betamax.

which means that M$ did have something to do with it, sense they are one of the biggest HD-DVD supporter.

Paramount has garbage for the most part and gets a good movie every 3 years. They mostly have the TV market locked with ABC, PBS, Nick, and MTV.

You do realize that MS is part of the group that is behind HD-DVD and only stands to gain from it's success?
NEVER rule out MS using unsavory tactics to win.
They're famous for using any and all advantage to corner a market and force other competitors out.
In short, if they're involved in any way shape or form you can bet they are not sitting idly by hoping things turn out well; to believe otherwise is plain fanboism or hopeless naivety.

This is the same version of the story I've been seeing the media.

is this really a big deal? They should convert Bad Boys 2 on Blue Ray, this way you can see in full detail how sh*tty a director Bay is

I find it funny that people waste their time to come into a ps3 forum and hate on blu-ray, which is wiping the floor with hd dud globally and is by far the superior product. I think these haters need to watch the hddud version of Transformers on their 360 add on, I hear it's got a great RROD special feature, or perhaps you've already seen that one.

It's good we're having directors taking a stand for the better format. Also, Blu-ray seems to be getting more opportunities to show its capabilities off lately. I was just reading the review for Order of the Phoenix on Blu-ray, and when it got to the Special features section, the reviewer began by announcing a comparison between the Blu-ray and HDDVD/DVD combo versions, so, of course, I thought, "Oh, damn, now we're going to get shafted like we did with 300". Apparently not - not only does Blu-ray get an extra feature not on the HDDVD, but wheras the remaining 'shared features' are in 480i on the HDDVD, the Blu-ray version gets them in high-definition. Plus, of course, there's the uncompressed PCM track. So I guess the HDDVD fanboys were right, Blu-ray's extra space ISN't being used! /sarcasm

His movies are always panned yet he keeps getting big gigs and his movies do pretty decent I believe? Hated most of his movies but loved The Rock. Sean Connery saved that movie I still watch it ...
