I am not a big fan of "realistic" racing games. However, I love games like Mario Cart. I havent play Mario Kart since SNES. Should I get Mod Nation Racer? Tried the forums but they seemed pretty dead....Thanks in advance.

I Have it and I love it!! it's pretty much like mario cart besides the fact that you can customize your car and character and build your own tracks. So in my opinion it's better then mario cart. I had a lot of fun playing this game. It acts like any other cart racing game great controls and since you can download other peoples track you will never get board of the same old thing. Hope That Helped 8)

Pros - custom soundtracks. infinite amount of tracks and characters, including a couple mad by other devs. Of course all Mario Kart levels have been recreated...and suprisingly pretty damn fun in this game. IMO this game takes more skill to play than Mario Kart. 4 player splitscreen online and offline It's on PSN so you can download directly to your HDD. Cons - Load times - it's bad...REALLY bad. This is the number 1 reason why everybody started trading the game back in. They were timing in at over a minute. They patched it later on to be slightly under a minute though. The driving is NOT pick up and play...which is kind of a big deal in a Kart racer. A lot of people didn't bother with learning the mechanics and traded it in. That being said, in a community based game, the community is dying out fast. The online races crashed a lot. Played it, liked it, but those cons were so bad at launch that all my friends sold their game (especially since it was so difficult to play together at the time) after 2 weeks. Which I eventually followed since I was the only one playing. Hopefully they've improved these issues.

It was great. Notice I said "was" I mean , I had a blast playing it BUT the load times were rediculous , The Level 3 Power ups were rediculous. Ur winning and a level 3 comes at you on the last leg of the race you lose. It does have fantastic maps though. And creations.

I did not pick it up b/c I heard everything was A+ level...except for the actual racing (which was 'meh')

Probably the best cart racing game out and the most fun I've had since Mario kart 64 for the N64 and Mod Nation is way better then that
