I personally am very excited to get the arcade editions of these 3 original MK games. So far I've tried the first 2 and now about to try out Ultimate MK 3. Feel free to talk about MKAEK and include any of the klassic cheats!

It's a steal at $9.99. I might have to get this. Been busy playing games lately so I might have to wait.
i'm thinkin about buying it just for mk1, its too bad they don't sell them seperate cause i really don't care about the other 2..
Bailed work early last night so I could download it... only to discover it isn't avalable in PAL territories yet
Maybe you guys can help me out here. I LOVE the new MK. Love it, love it, love it. However I have never played any other MK games. Are these worth getting if I don't have any nostalgia for the first 3 MK games? Thanks!Chaos_Bladez
It depends on how interested you are into the old school games. A friend of mine grew up with just MK1 and 3, but never played 2. Now he is hooked and won't stop playin 2. lol
The CPU is extremely cheap

Welcome back to the 90's ;) lol

Mayhaps sir, you never played these games in the arkade. Seeing as how profit for these machines was determined by how much money you put into them, the enemy CPU is designed to literally respond to your button pressing. For example if you press high kick, you are essentially also pressing high block for your enemy. This way you need to kombo, button mash, know special moves and when to use them and when to block yourself. And even then it's still hard as hell. Why? Because then you put more money in to keep playing. If you wrapped the game on one quarter that kreates no revenue, nor does anyone kare to play it again. Now being that these are arkade emulations, they are designed to rekreate the feel of getting embarassed in front of strangers, while each time you learn just enough to keep you wanting to play as you might do better next kontinue. Until you start to figure out the system, and then when your friend komes over and is all "I KAN DO FREEZE MOVE ONLY!" you beat them so badly that they hang themselves in the garage.
i wonder if you can still double up friendships, and babalities. and then kill the baby. ver 3.0 of mk2 i remember had all the cool stuff like that in it.
Will we ever see digitized characters in fighting games anymore? I think it would be cool if we can see realistic digitized characters in video games come back especially with the advancements in technology.

Extremely doubtful. Regardless of how much technology has advanced, digitized characters are still nothing more than 2D sprites that work completely different from 3D models. They require "x" amount of frames to animate a single movement which eats up a ton of memory. The more frames used, the more memory eaten. Then there's the issue of the limitations of digitized characters. Just look at the old MK games. They recycle the same frames in different situations which causes them to look a little silly sometimes. 3D modeled characters don't have those limits because with motion capturing, a single character can perform any kind of movement for any situation.
The box art shot that's posted is incredibly wrong.........it is not an HD collection, nor does it support 3D and it doesn't come in a box.
on line is so choppy and couldnt find much matches last night. will try again tonite. and yeah these are the best looking ports so far

I have a very good connection and this is an issue that needs to be patched. It unacceptable to release it with online and have it perform in such a fashion. Other than that I dig the collection a lot. I was a huge mk fan growing up and was always blinded by how bad the first game actually is. Well, I should say the gameplay is the worst of the bunch, but in other areas it remains the best mk, imo.
-there are some sound glitches in this collection, which is unfortunate.
-is there a way to turn off the border?
i tried out UMK3 yesterday..
Good:
-controls are costumizable
-painted1or2 filter makes the game look more HD
Bad:
-online only has 3 modes...quickmatch,friend match, and rank match?
what if i want to rematch the guy?? they need to add a rematch option...they made the same mistake with SF2:hyper fighting on 360.... it kills the replayablilty..
-it is very laggy..ugh...laggiest game since MK9 lol
-story mode is hard....even on very easy mode..

Wait, isn't there a button where you get to fight the same opponent again after the match? I always get that option.
Luvin' it so far but God , how cheap is the cpu in MK2 , even the first guy in the ladder is hard as hell , at least they don't make me feel guilty for spamming the **** out of baraka's specials.UMK3 is where it's at IMO.As for the online counterpart i haven't tried it yet because of how bad people say it is.

Yeah I saw that option too, granted it was on MK1, but I assume the option exists on all games.
