as someone who loves mw2 and has been playing since release I'm going to tell you why bc2 is the better game. I'm only talking multiplayer wise, as what COD brings to the table for single player as well as having co-op really sets it apart from bad company.
Destructible envrionments
Better graphics
Vehicles
Much much much better sound (impressive cuz mw2 has always had good sound)
More players (especially on pc version, but I enjoy the ps3 one a lot as well)
More realistic gun fire/recoil/gravity effecting bullets at longer distances
Combat knife is much more realistic
This next one is really subjective but NO PRONE. IMO prone is important for mw2 because of the size of the maps, but it also really encourages camping. I personally don't like when people complain about camping in mw2 because these people are usually morons who only play TDM and not objective based games. Of course camping/cruising the outside of the map is the most effective in TDM because the entire game is based around killstreaks which brings me to my next point.
Killstreaks detract from the realism of the game because not only are they stupidly overpowered vs the average terrible player, but after I get my killstreaks in a weak game...I usually want to go die so I can start loading them up again WHICH BRNGS ME TO MY NEXT POINT
DYING is insignificant in mw2 except in tdm and even then it's fairly meaningless. DYING MATTERS in bc2 both on offense and defense. Spawn placement is KEY and spawning on your squadmates inherently makes it more team based and gives it a gritty, war like feel.
But the real thing that separates bc2 from mw2 is something that's hard to touch upon because it's pretty tangible but summed up very nicely in the gamespot review
The online multiplayer in this modern military shooter is a standout, featuring huge maps, incredible destructibility, powerful vehicles, and excellent sound design. These elements combine to foster the sense that you are fighting on an actual battlefield, making many other online shooters seem more like combat arenas than believable war zones.
You really do feel like you're out in the world making these pushes and defensive stands where every decision counts. You have so many options on how to play it's disgusting. It's a level of immersiveness that MW2 will never be able to compete with.
And that my friends, is why bc2 is the better multiplayer game.
I will say that mw2 has always had the aiming/shooting mechanics down, and if you're looking for an arcadey shooter, or somewhere to play a quick round, it's your best bet. I haven't touched it since I got bc2 though, and I doubt I will unless my friends want to play it.
