My PS3 got the yellow light of death!

I did NOT bump this thread. Someone posted and deleted, most likely.

That sucks man, but hey like the saying goes .. **** happens .. they don't last forever, it's like a computer, and we all know how reliable they can be.

But really do you have this problem??? MGS4 Beta???? WHAT?!?! I've already beaten the game ..

I dont know about you but every now and again that would happen to my playstation 3 but when i just pushed the power and video cables in it would workmuzzsguy

I got it 4 or 5 days ago. I just called Sony and am waiting for the box to send it in. I guess $150 isn't as bad as buying a new ps3. It was weird that mine shutoff twice before finally never turning on again. Silverdragon17

Its real. I'm on the COD4 forum and heard about it. Looked it up and its happening with all of the PS3 consoles from 20Gb to 80Gb. What makes it worse is that Sony has been denying people a free replacement. The sad thing is that their screwing their customers and thus ruining their legacy. If it happens to me, you can bank on the fact that its not me whose going to fork out the money to fix it. $500 dollars is hardly a mild investment. Call them and see what they say. If they fix it for free, you shouldn't fault them. Nothing is impervious to defections. However, if they charge you, tell the F'ing world about it and work your a** off to make them pay one way or another. I am willing to bet that if you convinced two of your friends to not purchase the PS3 and instead go with the X-Box it would cost Sony more than it cost you. If you posted enough on the internet, Sony could lose substantially more. Its like DMX said, If its f**k me, then you know its f**k you. Don't be a pushover consumer. I am majoring in business and contrary to popular belief, Sony is not the all powerfull. It's the person who buys the product that has the real say. Never forget that. SA1NTZ

Thats true the business's dont decide the future, the people do. And itsup to the business to pay enough dumn azz's to sell their junk product, and BS you as much as they can. So you will decide what you do decide, weather you do it as a dumb A, or if you know every consequence of your actions. Its still the consumer "to a certain degree."

And besides all that. Are we gonna actually put stats on the table and argue over what systems built better?

And plus you have to admit 0.6% is really just a tad better than 30.0% lol

The PS3 80GB is POOHi bought it on Saturday 23/08/08 and it stopped working on the 27/08/08 the yellow light of death or the blue bleeping strip i don't give a damm what you call it the systems sucks i bought it for my son who i only get in the weekend i spent last weekend setting it up and transferring files and i am going to have to spend this weekend going to get a replacement which means another weekend of setting it up i would not recommend the PS3 even when i have not had a chance to play it properly.

Yea their is a 0.6% chance that he does. Now if it was a 360 it would be a 30% :P

But with a PS3 their is still a 0.6% chance. I mean people do win the lotto also so.

I got the "yellow light of death" just recently...Thankfully it was 1 month before my extended warrenty expired :) One bad thing though, Endwar is stuck inside and the repair center can not guarantee I get it back...I am pretty upset about that.

my god some of you people whine worse than women on here. if you get the extended warranty or equipment protection plan with the product you wont have to worry about paying the 150 bucks and just get the replacement system through the store. geeze. is it that hard to figure it out? By the way i have no problems with my ps3 at all.

Although this is not wide spread, it really does happen to some folks. I was wondering, did you have the older sku like the 60 and 20 gig? It's mostly happening to the older skus.

I had the 60 GB that I bough back in January of 07. It looks like it is happening to quite a few people, google it and look at all the videos. It goes by a few names. Yellow light of death, three beeps of death ect. I admit, it is minor compared to the 360's RROD.

I personally think people should be happy to get a refurb for $150. My extended warranty was about that much....I don't know of any electronic hardware company that will guarantee their hardware to work for 2-3 years...Yet, Sony is offering refurbs for less than half price to people that have ps3's over 2 years old :) Could you imagine if everything we bought was like that?
