So my 40GB phatty finally died from the YLOD. :( But in a way i'm happy because now I can get a slim which i've been wanting to do for a long time. So my question is, can I put my 500GB HDD that I had in my 40GB PS3 into the new Slim? And another question is anyone can help.. I have PS+ and was wondering if i'll be able to get any of my save data back from the online storage. Thanks in advance!

Yes PS3 Phat and Slims use SATA standard laptop computer HDD format. So you are good/format to the same32.

In addition to the above yes for the HDD I can confirm that you'll be able to restore any data you backed up on online sotrage too. Lucky eh?! :)

Just be aware, though, that when the hard drive is put into the slim it will format it so dont expect to keep your preciousdata that was on it. You should be ok if you are a backup junkie like me, ive got years of gaming time that i would be utterly pissed if i lost it!

That, right there, is the one reason I'm seriously considering renewing PS+. The automated online backups of all my saves was such an awesome feature and saved me doing it myself (a task more painful than it should be)
