Well, about 7 months or so ago, my ps3 was hit by lightning. I didn't have it plugged into the wall because I knew a thunderstorm was coming. Although my tv was hooked to an external antenna on the roof. Lightning hit the antenna and ran back through the tv cables into all of my tvs and when it went through the tv it came through to my ps3 through the av jacks through the audio and video plug. It will not turn on, and nothing happens, no lights, nothing. Is there some kind of lightning protecter inside you think I could replace?

I don't know if there is any hope of repairing my ps3 or I should just buy another one. I really miss it, and was about to get another one soon so I was just wondering if I could make some use of this one....well thanks.

i don't think u can fix it, but i don't know much about PS3... but u can send it in to sony for a refurbished, or fixed one back ($150(about)). Next time just keep it plugged in, but make sure you have it in a surge protector... they can be bought for about 30?? but i'm not sure aboutprotecting it from the TV part

Your thread title made it seem like you kept your PS3 on your roof during a thunderstorm. Anyway, you should get a power bar for it. Directly plugging it into the wall is asking for trouble.

Can't miss it that much .. since you've waited seven months before even trying to fix it ..

You're screwed, either send it to Sony or buy a new one .. that is some bad luck ..

Your warranty won't save you. Lightning's classed as an "act of God".

just send it in to sony, it'll take 2 months at maximum, that's a promise from sony. You've already not had it for 7 months now right? 150 instead of 400 $$ ??? which would u take?

A friend of mine said she would send it off for me. I forgot about it and assumed she sent it. She claimed she forgot all about it so I just got it back from her not long ago.

It's bricked. You'll have to buy a new one. Furthermore, any repair you get done will NOT be covered by your manufacturer's warrantee with Sony. Very few warrantees cover power surges and if they do, they'll usually say that they do.

My PS3 was hit by a mortar, when I was on tcn duty. If the warranty is still good send it in for repairs, I heard a rumor that a PS3 price drop will hit next month, keyword rumor.

? And why would that make it worse? Much more horrible things could happen than losing folding progress

Wait, why did you wait a 7 months? Post a pic of the back of your PS3 so we can see the burns. I am having trouble believing this.
