I've played both demos and Live has improved vastly over previous versions, and 2K9 is great just like all the games before it. This would normally be an easy choice, but with Live improving this year, which B-Ball game are you going to spend your money on?
Well, when it comes to b ball its 2nd to baseball but I usually get the 2k series games everyone knows that when it comes to basketball 2k9 is the top dog. Unless EA buys the NBA license *sigh*
i am not a 2k fan for some reason, even tho i played alot of 2k8. yes live has been bad the past few years, but i am strongly leaning towards live 09. gonan wait for reviews. 2k9 demo however was atrocious
Im wondering this as well, live 09 has vastly improved, I loved everything about the demo, 2k9 seems the same...Crowds look better in 2k9, but that is all I think is better (from demos). Whats new in 2k9? I also hate the controls in 2k9
It's weird that EA has NHL 09. 2k NBA 2k and Sony the MLB series. I loved MLB 08 the show but hated NBA 08. It seems like it's hard to lead two sports.

I've been going back and forth between both of the demos and I feel more in control on offense in NBA Live 09 and I feel like the computer is smarter off the ball on offense in Live as well. NBA 2K9 still feels great in terms of speed and control as well, but it does not feel better than NBA 2K6. I had NBA 2K7, I skipped 2K8, but I don't know what it is but I just feel like 2K hasn't made the strides and improved much since 2K6. Im leaning toward getting Live for the first time in probably 8 years, but Im still not too sure about that.
I think this is the first year I am considering on which one to get. Usually I've always lean towards the live series because of the controls... but this year besides DNA, there's not much that I saw that improved from last year. It seemed stiff to me. And 2k visually is appealing and whoever has HDTV, it makes any game better ingame-play. The crowd is definitely better and cut scenes between scores seems so realistic. But on the same hand I can't stand the offensive control, maybe I'm so used to the "total ball control" on live that it's hard to get used to anything else. Im torn... I almost want to buy both and just say screw it, but everyone knows that if you buy both you'll just end up only playing one... grrr.
it's all about 2k9, live has graphically improved but far as gameplay 2k wins, I cant wait until wensday :-( well, good luck and hope everyone chooses wisely :-)
2K9 hands down. NBA 09 is a bad joke with an appealing story mode (i think its maybe worth a rental for bball harcores)... live is crap. All they added was that DNA thing, which although cool, is only a feature to compliment the mediocre and outdated gameplay.
NBA 2k9's only flaw is that it feels too familiar, I wouldve liked a little more innovation from previous versions, but really why fix what isnt broke? They REALLY fixed the visuals, and id even say its the best looking sports game ive ever seen, just edging out MLB 08 the show (the stadiums werent that great)
I tried both demos and 2K9 is still better. I was really impressed w/ the graphics. It made a huge jump on the graphics part from last year's. So I'll go for 2K9 again.
Still not sure what to think about either game yet. I haven't played a basketball game since 2K7 so naturally Ive been getting my ass kicked playing the 2K9 demo. So I feel like I cant get a full impression of the game unless I can change the camera, the difficulty, and possibly adjust the sliders. NBA Live 09 on the other hand, I can change the camera so I get a better feel for the game because I usually play basketball games with a baseline camera, and it feels okay on the default difficulty. I think Im going to wait for some reviews to come out before buying because it could be a case that 2K9 has a bad demo and the full game will be amazing, or it could be that Live 09 has a great demo and the full game is atrocious.
