[QUOTE="-oG-ShAdY"]What allows the PS3 to read the dual layer disks? Does it have two lenses? I'm just confused. I was thinking that if it only had one lense to read a dual layer disk, then what stops it from being able to read more layers than that?mattyomo99
The best way I can describe it for you with getting into the technical mumbo-jumbo is. A cd is a thread with info written on it wrapped around and around a bunch of times to make a disk. Now as time has gone on this "thread" has gotten skinnier, as the "thread" gets skinniermore info can be wrapped around the disk. Bluerays "thread" is really skinny and it can be wrapped around the disk more times then any other disk before. Now the double layer part, the first threadis red, and the second thread over top of it is blue. The blueray drive knows to read thered first and thenblue second, it's an oversimplification but I think it's a good way to explain it.
That makes no sense that there's a red and blue layer. Are you confusing red and blue lasers? The blue laser as far as I know just focuses to the next layer.

its an over simplification with out getting into the technical crap
THere are a few ways to use this. U could put seasons odf shows on one disk or a bunch of games in a series on a disk. Anyone for 3 God of War's on a disk? Or maybe all the GTA's?ravine1
You might as well imagine what you could do with a 100,000gig disc as it has just as much chance of happening on the PS3 or movie players as anything over 2 layers on Blu-ray.
