According to a report over at GamesIndustry.biz, Sony's next motion-sensing controller is closer to fruition than we may have though. Citing various industry sources, GI explains that the company is working on a controller that breaks into two pieces, each containing an accelerometer for Wii-like motion sensing capability. The story mentions that working versions of the new controller have already been delivered to certain development partners.

sounds like this motion controll might actually work.

I don't like this idea. I hope it's just a rumor.

I don't want more casual Wii type games.

I don't want to buy yet another controller.

We already have the Sixaxis.

Personally I'm tired of buying controllers. First I had to buy extra sixaxis controllers and then a ds3 and even if something new comes out I probably wont get it unless it is really a must have.

Motion sensing is poinless unless it is the main focus of your console (Wii). Sony never should have even bothered with the Sixxaxis. I find it extremely annoying trying to tilt or twist the controller in a game. Hopefully, they will drop this and realize that Nintendo already has the edge in that particular market.

i think this is a good idea. if we get more casual games then more casual gamers are going to buy the system which means more systems sold which means we might be able to get some good non casual exclusives

I think you're right that it would help their sales some, but most of your casual gamers are gonna pay $250 for a Wii rather than $400 (or $500) for a PS3, that is, unless they also want a Blu-ray player.

Eh, enough with the stupid controller gimmicks. Sixaxis is enough and DS3 was just a natural evolution. We don't need a PS-mote.

but id rather them make a bigger/fatter version of the sixaxis

my hands are to big to fit nicely on the controler

I bought the DS3 for GTA4 and came in handy for MGS4. This controller better be with a game or something.

i know what you mean my pinkeys feel like they are just floating there but i had this idea long time ago i was just holing my controller and feel it would be able to move in different ways but not breaking off or putting a litte extendable pole in middle of ti and stretching but i dont even know if id play with it and what games would be made for it

Rather just call this console the Playstation Thrii. Sounds like a good idea though. But I have a feeling it's going to end up like the Eyetoy, USELESS! The motion sensing in the sixaxis is highly unnecessary as it is.

I'd be more interested if this controller had the Wiimote's pointer system. That really adds more than the motion sensing overall IMO.

well i can't understand why some people complain about sony doing such pad.

clearly there's potential, and it's also obvious this is the only selling point of the wii.

so how bad could be to have the best of both worlds? real games like we're used to in the playstation consoles + a fun controling system.

i for one would like to see some game like soul blade or bleach or something like that with the graphical capabilities of the PS3 and a wii-like pad.

so again... how can this be bad?? more options for consumers is always good

its only useless cause no one actually makes games for it.

I think they should have tried pushing this more. The PS Eye had a lot of potential. I think Sony should scratch this Wii ideal and try to make this control more FPS base. Using the PSP as a controller seemed like a better idea.

GranReyUno

That's where a Wiimote style pointer system would come in real handy.

Using the PSP as a controller seemed like a better idea.

GranReyUno

The PSP would make an expensive yet lousy controller for the PS3.
