Hmm, I've never had anything like this happen to me, and I've had my PS3 for two years now. I would say that probably 33% of all the gaming I've done on my machine was PSX/PS2.

Do you have one of the original 20/60GB models with the emotion engine? I'm not sure if they're less prone to corrupting. I have an 80GB MGS4 unit. I've gotten into the habit of constantly backing up the virtual memory cards because they corrupt every week or two. Persona 4 was really bad for that.

yeah I have a 60 (now a 320). You've got me scared though, so I'll probably begin backing my saves onto some old Magic Gates.. I gotta use that memory card reader for something, right? :P
