So I'm really excited because I'm getting the PS3 this friday, and I decided on what game to get...i think. Just need a little help, if you don't mind. I also have some other general questions I couldn't find.

I'm a big lover of the Halo series. At this point you're probably thinking "Then get the friggin' 360!" Two words and one number: Kingdom Hearts 3

Question #1: Anyways, being a big fan of Halo, I saw Resistance: Fall of Man and read it was like the PS3 version of Halo. I was wondering if this is anywhere near true, or if it's COMPLETELY different. I also read that this game doesn't have a great story, and I love getting into the story of a game, so I was wondering if I should just skip this and go to Resistance 2 to get the upgraded version.

Question #2: Playstation Online looks awesome. Because the PS3 has Wi-Fi built in, will i still need the adapter (router? whichever one) to get the connection? I can only imagine so, but if you could still answer this that would be very helpful.

Question #3: Are there any major bugs that I should know about? i.e. bring-you-to-tears loading screens, game freeze-ups, overheating, etc.

Any other games you recommend I could get that will last me a while would be great. Thanks for all help, and I hope to see you soon on PSN!

1.uhhh..halo and resistance are both shooters lol :) i've only played the demo for resistance but i have played halo and i didnt notice much notable similarity

2.uh no u do not need a wifi adapter to recieve wireless internet signals. You do need a wireless router to transmit wifi signals.

3.there arent any bugs in the system but some games can be buggy(but its the same on the 360, and the PS3 is less vulnerable to overheating)

Loading times are non existen most of the time, The Ps3 installs games on the HDD to avoid that, Resistance is a good game but it feels very old now, I'd recommend you to try something new and fresh like Killzone 2, its the best Shooter on the Ps3 and maybe the best first person shooter on consoles. The only wide spread bug on the PS3 are some annoying disctonections from psn from time to time, it can get really annoying at times. A linksys cisco WRT160N is easy as hell to set up, unless you do something wrong like me, it practically installs itself lol. You MUST consider this games when you First Buy a Ps3, Uncharted Drakes Fortune (Action/Adventure) Killzone 2 (First Person Shooter), METAL GEAR SOLID 4 GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS ( Tactical Espionage/Action), Valkyria Chronicles ( Strategy Based Japanese RPG), Little Big Planet (Platformer centered in User made content), Infamous ( Free roaming).

Good, I heard loading times were extremely painful. Disconnections aren't really bugs, just pains in the butt lol. But i know what you mean. I like to play MMORPGs and d/c can turn the tide of a battle lol.

Games i've been losing my mind over trying to figure out not IF i'm getting them, but WHEN I'm getting them:

MGS4(haven't played any of them, still good to get though?)

LBP

InFamous (probably get this after my first game)

COD 4

COD: WaW

Anyways, I'm considering a lot of games, I just need to figure out when to get them lol. But I can't decide between COD 4 or WaW. Any help? I've played COD 4 with other people offline and it's pretty cool but I've never tried CoD: WaW. I've been a big fan of CoD since CoD 2 so I don't think that I'll have a big problem with either of then, but which one have you (the replier) had more fun with?

Lastly, I think I asked this, but is there just one game that will last me a LONG time?

Believe me, you will enjoy MGS4, I've never played the other MGS, but I still enjoyed 4 a lot. Just I didn't get the story, then again, there's MGS1 on the PSN store for $9.99. And for the last question, that my friend is Killzone 2 multiplayer,at least for me, that's it, if you like FPS's. And inFamous is a must. Good luck with your purchase.

Question #1: I haven't played resistance 2, but Resistance:FOM was a pretty average shooter. Those unfamiliar w/ the genre will like it, but if you've played a lot of other shooters you'll be disappointed.

Question #2: If you're playing online use a wired connection. Wireless has a ton of packet loss, and w/ most games using UDP it makes for pretty crappy matches, and a ton of disconnecting if you don't. If you're not going to be playing multiplayer it's ok if you use wireless though you might get signed out of PSN more often, and have more failed downloads.

Question #3: Some games have really long install times, and some requiere an install but it's fairly rare that they take more than 5 min.

I suggest buying Little Big Planet, and Valkyrie Chronicles.

I use a wired connection and do not have problems with disconnects. I would honestly recommend skipping CoD all together due to Modern Warfare 2 coming out shortly, but if you must I'd go for CoD4 Modern Warfare. I never played previous Metal Gear games and MGS4 is one of the most impressive games I've ever played. Games which would last a while well I think Killzone 2 and it's multiplayer should last quite awhile. Check the game recommendation threads and you can always get your PS3 and check out alot of demos which is what I did before buying a bunch of games right off. As previously mentioned if you are a baseball fan MLB The Show is a must get.

Q1- Resistence is sumwat similar to Halo 2. An alien species lands on your planet. You got to gut them out. Personally, i think Fall of Man's story is better, but in everything else, the sequel is better.

Q2 -I think you still need a router. My online wasn't working until I hooked up a wireless router but I don't have a great online service so....

Q3 - I know of no bugs or glitches. Of course, buying a broken game will result in these. Multiplats might look better on 360, but PS3 exclusives are SOOO much better than any other games graphic wise (exluding inFamous, which still looked good.) Downloading demos off of PSN takes a while so just turn on the console right before you go to bed and start downloading. Your lucky lady should be safe till morning.

1. Halo is Halo and Resistance is Resistance. They are both great shooters. :) Killzone 2 is better to me though.\\ 2. PSN is great. Free and if you can get wireless internet to your computer, it can come to your PS3 without extra routers and stuff. 3. No major bugs. As with ALL electronics, it can freeze sometimes. Mine has frozen like 3 times in 2 years. It doesn't overheat. ;) Congrats! For games, there's a lot, but I don't want you to be overwhelmed so here's my top 4: MGS4 InFamous Uncharted Killzone 2 If you've got the money... Resistance 1 + 2 LittleBigPlanet Ratchet & Clank Future People seem to love Warhawk, Valkyria Chronicles, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, & Motorstorm.

Hate to break it to you but there is no such thing as Kingdom Hearts 3.:o Yup, that game is nothing but a myth. Sorry. Resistance is not like Halo and yes you should just skip to R2. R2 online is pretty active, you could still get an 8 player co-op game going, a 30 vs 30, 20 vs 20, 10 vs 10. KillZone 2 is a better game and has better online. You should wait for the 80gb bundle that comes with both Killzone 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4 (you get the two best games on the PS3 for free ;)

I just want to tell you that, in my opinion you should of have better reasons to buy a ps3. You seem like you know nothing about nex gen systems and might be getting into somthing you might not be ready for (and that could cuz you to be disapointed with your PS3). You should check out more games and dont believe everthing you hear, cuz there are alot of ignorant people/fanboys that dont know **** and try to lie and trick you. Be smart, be safe, and good luck. ^agree. I don't know where you heard about Kingdom Hearts 3 but you better snuff that dream out right now. Something to think about is that Warhawk has splitscreen online and Lan support.

#1 I have no clue but to be honest H3 really didn't give a next gen feeling... play Killzone2 that'll do it. #2Yes you will need a router (a wireless router obviously) i like Netgear cause its simple and pretty much plug and play. #3 Bugs nope... At first you'll have to load any and all games to the Hdd which is annoying and has no proven advantage. (if you disagree prove it) You shouldn't have any problems as long as you don't neglect the system... Rule of thumb is if its a PS3 exclusive its worth a look. Enjoy...

I'm not getting it JUST for Kingdom Hearts 3...and if it's a myth...T_T i love that game! Lol sorry...anyways, I'm getting it because it's more reliable, it has more of a balance of games (at least it seems that way), I've always loved Playstation since I got my PS2 4-5 years ago. If there is anything I should know please tell me. I don't wanna get into if I'm gonna hate it, but I highly doubt I will.

One reason I am getting the PS3 is, after doing a little game research on Gamestop's website, I noticed a lot of the big hit titles I thought were exclusives for the 360, such as Assassins Creed, COD series, etc. I noticed were also for the PS3. Plus, the PS3 has blu-ray (save a lot of money), built-in wi-fi (save $100 on the adapter for 360), and it has a few series I love, such as Ratchet and Clank.

I don't mean to sound like I'm in denial, but if KH3 is a myth, what's up with that little ending trailer at the end of KH2?

I don't mean to sound like I'm in denial, but if KH3 is a myth, what's up with that little ending trailer at the end of KH2?

ur not gonna hate it, it sounds like everything u want is in the ps3(bluray, wifi) and u also dont have to play for online so u definitly wont "hate it" the only thing the other console has is a large fanbase cuz it came out first. but get killzone 2 if u wanna play by ur self and LBP for a party game with 4 people(offline AND online). A offline team deathmatch is available on the cod games with up to 4 people as well
