I am using a hdmi-DVI adapter for my tv and I have no audio at all. Do I need a separate av cable to provide the sound?

ALSO...

which display setting is better---- 1080i or 720p my tv only supports up to 1080i

1.) Yes, you need a separate AV cable to provide the sound. Just use the one that came with the PS3.

2.) Whats the native resolution of your moniter?

720p is better than 1080i or at least it is on standard hd display.

DVI doesn't support audio, but you can use the AV cables that came with the PS3 or if you have a sound system you can use a optical cable.
