They're already taking a huge hit by selling something that costs around $800 to make for $600.Â
I'm pretty sure they can get cables cheaper than $50. They can probably make their own cables and it really wouldn't set them back THAT much.....maybe a few dollars. A few dollars is a small sacrifice to gain consumer respect and loyalty IMO.
i think its more of the fact that not everyone has a hdtv so why put them in there if they cant use it. but its ok i bought some for my ps2 a while back ago and they work for my ps3

Would've been nice, but they can't give you EVERYTHING for free. They are covering the network costs to maintain PSN without the support of their users, they have to take a 200$ hit on each console at launch, including cables would have cost them dollars at the manufacturing elvel but that would translate into around 20-30$ at the consumer level.

No, I mean if they didn't put the component cables into the box cuz not everyone has an HDTV, then why even bother using Blu-Ray at all? You need HD to gain the full benefits of Blu-Ray, so why bother if not everyone has an HDTV?

To push people to get into the "new" technology and ditch the "old".Â
Just do what I did, buy them on eBay for cheap, got mine for 15 bucks Canadian with shipping. I have a SDTV with component input, and it does make a difference, colours are shown much stronger, and clearer.Â
