Perhaps we should cut the price to twenty bucks?

Go Rothman Go!!  Rothman FTW!! :D

These whiners and their price cut garbage don't even deserve responses anymore.  Those of us with the system don't seem to be upset at the price as a matter of fact most of us RAVE about how great it is.

Well, if I remember correctly, Sony thinks that it's "cool" that their system is expensive. They already said that they wanted you to work for the system.

most people i know says it too expensive. as of right now they dont want to spend that much when they dont even own an hd tv yet. its not that they dont want one, but they feel they can wait for a price drop or an hd tv first.  the reasons why the people dont buy the PS3 is the same reason they want to buy a Wii.

As expected it was confirmed by Sony (not that long ago) that there will be no price cut this year. I wonder what if it was 100 bucks cheaper? Do you think sales would be better?(I know i would buy one if it was cheaper) After all isn't it that software makes money instead of hardware and should that be their goal to have more hardware out there?

Can someone explain me Sonys strategy?

Why would they cut the price this early in the game, especially when they're already at a loss per unit sold.

(plus i've heard that B-ray players will now cost somewhere around $499, sorry no link, as i've heard it on the local news)

Cutting prices so early is like committing suicide since it shows desperation. Even if Sony could afford a price cut they wouldn't do it so quickly regardless.

The problem is the amount of money they are losing for each console sold. While there is a happy medium, the point where the price cut gets enough new consoles out there that get new games to make more profit, Sony believes they are currently at the happy medium and dont feel a price cut would be better for them.

There is only one reason why I have not bought a PS3 yet.  No, not price.  Games.  There isn't any games that are out currently that really make me want to run out and purchase one.  Would I like a 50-100 dollar price drop?  Of course. Who would be stupid enough to not want to pay $500-550 for a great machine when they would get one anyways at $600?

Will I be waiting for a price drop? No, just specific games that will be released later this year. I'm sure there are more then a few people like me who have been waiting for that killer must have app to go and jump into the PS3 world.  Once it's out, count me in on the PSN.
