If you haven't played a Twisted Metal game I can tell you right now ..... its gonna be action packed, fast paced, strategy driven multiplayer goodness.

gameplay (watch in HD)

other than a few glitches it looks so awesome. Im a big TM fan so I can not wait for this game.

ps - my reaction to Jaffe announcing TM

wish i cared, other than the online matches, the game looked dated. I know the video was early stuff, It just looked like it has terrible maps, graphically wasn't impressed, it looked very plain.

Again it was early, i'll judge on what i see towards it's release date.

It's more of a product of the genre than anything else - the car combat game is more or less dead, and I'm curious what they plan on doing to get players back into it. From what I've seen so far, they're not doing much else other than remaking thelast Twisted Metal with better graphics, which isn't really the right route.

Yeah I don't believe there was anything new and exciting to get hyped about. I was a little disappointed that was Sony's finishing surprise, actually.

The fact that Jaffe said that it's the Twisted Metal he always wanted to make has me excited, on principle alone.. but they haven't shown anything to warrant that. We'll see.

This. I totally got bashed when I said the game was outdated.

I don't know if that's true. Sure they don't sell many car combat games nowadays, but there aren't many being made either. I just wish they'd have a proper sequel to Interstate '76, one of my favorite games ever.

It looks like a bunch of Meh to me. The video I saw at E3 was ok, but nothing that makes me hyped for it.

The original game in the franchise was one of the two games which sold me on a Playstation over my Genesis. When I saw that game, all of my Mad Max fantasies had come true. And then they released that second game and hit perfection. Balance, secrets, graphics, they really reached the acme of the genre with that game.

All the rest which have come since that second game were at best, playable. None of those games ever hit the raw edge of the first one or the thumb-murderinggenius of the second, and so for that, let's just say that I'm cautious about getting excited. I still have love in my heart because of those first two games, but the last few tastes have been just OK or even down-right bad... you gotta admit.

Well, you don't have to... I didn't mean to couch it that way... if you really liked #3, "Black", or "Head-On" then that's cool and I don't mean to condemn them at all. I had a copy of "Black" - It just missed a certain something in the sauce, so the dish wasn't as magical for me so I lost steam halfway through it. Ya dig?

:D

I'm cool with them giving it another try, and perhaps it'll own some ground like the old days. I wouldn't say that Vehicular Combat is dead, but it's sleeping pretty soundly... out cold, drunk maybe.

Perhaps they'll sober it up and make it mean again. Let's all hope!

It looked like the same old Twisted Metal to me. I mean, I'm sure it'll be great fun for a while, but i'm sure it get old and forgotten about like all the entire arena car combat scene has.

I'm excited about it.

I don't get how people say it looks dated. It looks unfinished, because it has a long time to go before it's release. I'm sure by the time of it's release it will look fantastic and there will be plenty of new stuff being offered. Two indications: Sweet Tooth in the menu section looked great and the new Nuke game mode looked to be awesome and a mode I'll be spending hours with.

Time will tell, but it's one of my most anticipated games for now.

Haven't played Twisted Metal since PS1 days, and even then I was barely into it. I can't even recall which Twisted Metal it was. Having never played this series during PS2 era I never played the online aspect of car combat, so this actually looks kind of interesting to me.

Not only that, but the footage shown at E3 was apparently in Jaffe's words was a "pre pre-alpha" build. If so, it looks great so far!

So far I'm not too hyped, but I'm going to keep an open mind and hope for the best :) I used to love Vigilante 8 back in the day and Twisted Metal seems pretty similar.

U ALL HAVE NO IDEA HOW LONG I HAVE WAITED FOR THIS !!!!!!!!! I went apesh*&t when it came on screen. Finally sony has come to thier senses and brought back a powerful ps exclusive. Warthog and spectrre were my personal favs, i would own my brother on splitscreen. Still he would always resort to Mr Grimm and own me....sometimes. Hopefully we see, Minion, Dark Tooth, and of course Calypso. I still rememeer everyones story, ironically, they were TWISTED and awesome !!!!!! DAY ONE FOR ME, sooner if possible. Comon GIVE US A BETA !!!!

I saw it on the day the sony press conference came on at E3. It looked ok but I don't really care about playing online. And that was it's main selling feature.

Kinda hyped. I liked Twisted Metal, never played any of the sequels (or remakes). Anyone else actually like the knock-offs, Vigilante 8 and Rogue Trip? I think both of those deserve to be refreshed, maybe even improved. Twisted Metal was always dark & brooding, Vigilante 8 gave the genre more of an uplifting feel, and Rogue Trip was just wacky.

I am not hyped because the game is a year or more away from release. I don't see how this game has bad graphics. The level looked huge and probably is. Twisted Metal is known for having big levels so they are not going to have the smaller details on every object because your going to blow it up anyway. The graphics remind of warhawk only quite a bit better. Bigger maps come at the cost of graphics plain and simple. The gameplay looks the same as the old games because it is an old franchise. People wanted them to go back to gameplay of the fist couple of games. TM 2 is regarded as the best twisted metal game to this day and that game came out in 96. The third one tried to make the game have more depth and while still fun, it took away a little bit from the overall concept of the game. Blowing switches or whatever to remove the shield from the final boss was dumb. The secret weapons were cool but once again I don't want to have to sit there and shoot switches in order to unlock the area. The secret weapon should be hard to get to but it shouldn't require you to avoid car combat in order to get it.

The gameplay looked fast and simple, which is what TW has always been known for.
