Now.. do you think MGS4 Deserved the award for game of the year?

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots definatly deserves the Game of the Year award.

For me it did deserve the award, the best PS3 game that came out this year imo and it even let new gamers get interested in it and loved it ( of course there are some who didn't but that can happen to any game)

I hated the cut scenes, crappy writing, terrible acting. It was like watching a reaally cheezy bad movie. But yes the game as a whole was extremely well done. Its just slick. It deserves it.Mr_Ditters

im kind of on the fence with MGS4 winning. on one hand the inner fanboy in me who i hate screams YES!!!! but on the other hand the game IMHO had some serious down sides. mainly just that it had a lach of game play time. when you cut out all the tons of cut scenes the game is realy realy short. and again IMHO only about half of that gameplay time was GREAt the other half was just ok.as iv said many times i think act 1 and 2 were great afterthat though it fell off. Its just when i buy a game i want to play the game not watch it. im all for deep stoys and charicters but i felt that theamount of cut scenes were a bit exessive at least when compaired to the amount of game play time. the cut scenes were mostly well done. the phics and sound were great. the sneaking was well done, i loved all the deffernt real world weapons i just wish that the game "gameplay part" was about twice as long and that the whole game was of the level that act 1 and 2 were. but any way great game.personaly i would probly picked fallout 3 as GOTY. great game,LONG ,deep game play, good graphics ect.

one thing surprised me though in the awards game of the year vid i noticed that gow2 and fable 2 were not mentuned? or did i miss that.

I don't think it's the best game this year but I think it deserves GOTY because it is the only game that I have played over 13 times and I'm going onto my 14th playthrough.

I just find it fun every time, but thats just my opinion.

No, fable 2 deserved the goty, they said I cant say any cutscene or level from a game this year, even the noob editors at gamespot will agree that A perfect World in fable 2 is the best created level ever, and the level of immersion has never been deeper then in that specific level imho.

I havent played MGS4 and as such would have wanted fable 2 on the throne this year, fable 2 was the greatest game I ever played and that wont change for a longlong time.

No. Alot other games had so much potential such as LBP, Brawl, Call of Duty WaW but gamespot just gave this game the award because it wall all hype. Sure the game was great but not for Goty. pro_gamer12345

COD 4 was GOTY and WAW is exactly the same but in WWII so its just a cliche'

No matter how much anyone debates with me, GTA IV was the best of this year.It had the graphics, Story, Physics system thats 100x better than MGS4's, It was pretty long, (Longer than MGS and its Cutscenes) Plus it had a very good and addicting online, Which Sweeped the floor of MGS4. MGS4 was mostly cutscenes, And god damn it was a quick game, Im not going to say a Movie is game of the year.

for me, that realism is what made it fun. it added a fresh take on the series and gave it a shot in the arm. if i want mindless killing with no real objective, i will revisit saints row. i like the grittines of the game and the feeling in instilled in me
