[QUOTE="fallendamnation"]After Halo 3 there will be no more. Thats is how they choose to die
Jamie_1987

there will always be more halo,

yeah the expansion pack but after that nothing. Bungie stated clearly that Halo 3 will be the last of the series. However that doesnt mean thats its the end of Masterchief. Im guessing after Halo 3 they will release a Halo RTS which is what Bungie wanted to do in the first place

I've seen around the net that peter jackson had something to do with a whole new halo game series, but I'm not really a big fan of halo so I haven't really been following it.

Yeah Peter Jackson who was the director for Lord of the Rings and King Kong is directing Movie version of Halo http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4311756.stm which will not effect consoles in anyway well only if its a huge hit like the games and comes out on HD-DVD the future of universal isnt clear yet because they are still ticked off at sony with the UMD format failure now if only that slimPSP with a videoout port came sooner then it would have suceeded.

We need to realize that even though microsoft had the jumpstart this gen, the PS3 outlasts the 360 in the future years, microsoft is gonna have to put up another console in order to stay in the race.Hoshslatz

That is very true. The 360 is a powerfull console. But the Processer and the DVD9's are gonna kill it.

I did some calculating online about games and just take a look at this.

Early Xbox = Halo 1 = 613.43 MB

Late Xbox = Ninja Gaiden Black = 4.31 GB

Xbox 360

Early = Dead or Alive 4 = 7.05 GB

MAX storage for a DVD9 = 8.5 GB

Xbox games grew 4x largers from launch to close to end...

The 360 cannot grow 4x larger in its games. Sure it has alot a raw power, however MS overlooked disk space. And that is gonna hit them hard in another year or two.

Yeah I can never figure out what people's problems are when it comes to the "Blu-ray is so superior it's gonna make PS3 win for sure!". Sure Blu-Ray is a vastly superior optical storage format over DVD-9 no question. But it's not like 360 games are stuck on 1 dvd. Oh wow, you have to change a disc every 20 hours or so (on RPGs) is it really that big of a deal? We all loved FF7 and that was on multiple discs.

50GB compared to 8.5

Now think about this. You can have more in ONE level. Instead of a bunch of small levels. They said if Dyanasty Warriors was to go all out on the PS3 they could have 4000 enemies. Now that it is multiplatform we are seeing about normal numbers for enemys.

Instead of using a crap load of small missions. Why not use a bunch of large epic missions?

But you are only talking about length at this point. When developers truly tap into the power of the PS3, that storage space can be used to feature more enemies, more allies, more weapons, more details on screen, more explosions, more shrapnel, more vehicles, more air targets, more movies, more cut scenes, more detailed graphics, etc... etc...

And then that slight advantage that BluRay currently has will have become a MASSIVE one.

Yep use blu ray and increase the price to $600 which is clearly killing Sony at the moment. The majority of consumers could care less about those things. Look at the Wii.

Won't lie, I used to be a PS3 Fanboy. Owned the original Xbox but only really played Ninja Gaiden on it. Once I got gears of war + 360....I became a Microsoft fanatic, I loved it so much, and was fearing PS3 would fail because of the crap games they have right now. But in all honesty, I do believe once Sony pulls out some good titles nextyear, like MGS4 and FF13, along with a few other titles, coupled with a 100$ price drop on the 80 gig version, I find it likely that PS3 will take the lead. Unless some of those games flop.

Microsoft has seemed to adress the RROD issue. I have not heard of anyone purchasing the new 360's, like the new Elites or the new Pro bundles with HDMI input of having any problems. Microsoft also extended their warrenty to deal with the issue, they have their customers covered well and the replacement program has been pretty pleasing from what I've heard.

It's a tough call but...if PS3's MGS4 and FF13 are sick games like they are being hyped to be....I think this generation will end up embracing it. I love my 360...but I'm rooting for the PS3. I just don't like 360's dashboard...it's too slow and not as smooth as PS3's intial OS interface...Microsoft needs to adress that.

Conversely, if Sony had come up with that idea and released a Wii-like system, can you imagine the backlash from PlayStation fans expecting a console along the lines of the PS1 or PS2?

How exactly would you play a Final Fantasy game or a MGS game using a Wiimote?

Either way, Sony would have run into flak. You can't please everyone.

LordMe

I'm developing a game, I have plans to make it on the 360 but I keep them a secret for now.

I go to TGS, I throw numbers around, "4000 enemies on screen!" I say, "Individual enemy A.I for every single soldier!" I say, "Only possible because of the Cell!" I say. "Superior online service with 0 lag!" I say. All of the Playstation fans look at the game, I show them demos with 200-400 soldiers on screen, which is the number I plan to have in the final game...but I go ahead and tell people, "Well, this is but 1% of what you will get in the final game." People go crazy, pre-orders out the ass. Then I announce the game for the 360. Keep everything exactly as it was in the demo, and people still buy it because the 360 fans were jealous and want to spite PS fans etc. etc. Numbers like that are just hype.

Well, since the PS3 has no crazy system sellers this holiday and the xbox has about four billion of them, things are looking tough for the PS brand until february 2008. I expect the sales gap to get much worse over the coming weeks.

I really wish that Sony would make a system seller or five on the console, for once. Or just buy some company and put their game on the PS3. I have no problem with that is it means that the console keeps its head above water and gets a chance to shine and get lots of games on it.

osirisomeomi
Dude 360 has two big games this holiday halo3 and mass effect. Sony has more potentially good games (R&C, Uncharted, Haze, UT3, Gt5:prologue, Heavenly Sword) but they need to build the hype and go thru with the $399 bundle. They probably also need some huge announcements at TGS and maybe lots and lots of Killzone 2 hype including a demo or beta.

x360 has simply been around longer. gears was their 1 year release title, give or take, as is halo 3 their 2nd. ps3s fall 2007 releases are a strong line up, but march is when the rest of the world got their ps3s, so MGS4 and Killzone2 are sonys 1 year releases, give or take. Final Fantasy XIII (assuming it stays) is sonys 2nd year.... long story story, this all has a very LONG way to go. I just want 3D gaming... hurry up technology!

Ouch. This is terrible news.

In short, this means that PS2 folks are converting to next gen...only to the 360 rather than the PS3. Sony had 360 by the short hairs the month previous, and then let 'em go again. I hate to say it, this is the first time that I've thought we officially will lose the next gen race. Unless something changes quickly, there's no way PS3 will ever pass the 360 as far as their total install base -- RROD or not. And the fact that whoever has the biggest install base YIELDS who is lead platform on multi-platform games means that PS3 is going to be relegated to bottom of the heap.

Sony may win the next-gen format war with Blu-Ray over HD-DVD, but I fear the console war winner just rang the bell.

Ouch.

mindworm22

Wel lone I would not worry about a system that has only been out since March? So give a few years, and full worldwide "Japan also" sales to worry. Dont worry the 360 will be last again. It just will take a bit longer this time around.

If we are going to go by that kind of thinking, we should all be anticipating games built off the Wii platform. They are clearly at the head of this race.

Once game engines and kits make development faster. And the PS3 inches, and should pass the 360 in a few years. That cycle will change. Also you will have base engines from game already made. Alot of it is not getting the tech down. The 360 has old tech, and has been out for a while now. So that natural. Its also natural that the newer stuff will take over latter and grow faster by the second. As the older stuff fades in comparison of what can be done. Its kinda basic thinking, with people confusing it with alot of BS.

i would bet money on a Price drop to come early october. and if they come out with the 40 gb for 400 it will be right in the 360 range which will allow all the ps2 users looking to upgrade to be able to get a ps3. nothing is over yet i mean look at the install base of the ps2 compared to current consoles owned. there are alot of people out there still in the last gen and they have had no reason to transfer yet because they are still getting alot of games coming to there ps2s. but when they decide to switch over Sony should have a competitively priced model of the ps3 that will give them the upper hand on the xbox. and mind you the average gamer is not going on this site and thinking about the nex gen conscle debate,or talking about blu-ray vs hd-dvd;they buy what is familiar to them, what can give them the games they had played before, and what is affordable. and the playstation brand is familiar to everyone(and doesnt break),still has the great franchises that players enjoyed somuch on ps2(FF, MGS,and many others),and when the ps3 is affordable it will get some people looking to go into the nex generation.

about 90% of gamers still havent gone into the nex generation

psn:barrett33

ill be on warhawk

I sure hope MGS4, GT5, and FFXIII don't pound on the competition too bad. It's just painful to watch that kind of a beatdown.

Hey, Halo 3 might do it. Why not let Snake and others have their fun

FFXIII will boost sales for the PS3 more then anything, MGS isn't as big a system seller as many think. It's main market is in NA and Europe, and even then it comes no where near the fanbase of GTA. Which is the reason why the PS2 had such a huge following last generation.

It's already been stated that a ton of developers that previously weren't planning on even getting into the ring with the Wii are shifting $$$ that direction as we speak. I don't know if it can be a true lead platform since it's core design centers around motion sensing, and it's overall appeal isn't it's graphical prowess....it's the innovative gameplay aspect.

Either way, $$$ going that way takes it away from PS3, which is admittedly wayfrigginhard to program for.

Again, I stand by my "things are reealllllly looking bad" statement.
