[QUOTE="sxs_alex"]Gamespot should add oblivion to the 360 vs PS3 graphic comparison article lol . well reason why it's performing better because they are fully utilizing the cell. lets hope future developers all do the same. BIGDEE06
How can you "FAIRLY" compare a game that's been out 1 year longer than it's PS3 counterpart?  One would hope that the PS3 version will be better in everyway, considering the amount of time Bethesda's had since the 360 version.

i would never think what i said can catch someone's attention. lol . so it's ok for other fanboys to put down the ps3 when it's only been out 3 months. nothing is fair in life. i don't care that much about graphics because it's not that noticeable when playing it on both systems. if you paused it and took snapshots for comparison then you'll see the difference but during gameplay when there's movements involve, you really can't tell which looks better. that's why i think comparing graphics doesn't mean much to me. gameplay is more important than graphics. GS was comparing graphics with a 3 month old system. do you think that's fair? so people had been saying this and that about all the 360 games ported to PS3 won't look as good. Did oblivion prove them wrong? developers will not take the time to port the game over to ps3 and this was one of the reason why it didn't look as good as the 360 version. oh and one more thing.... oblivion is multiplat so i'd say it's fair to compare just to shut the fanboys and trolls up for once. :D

[QUOTE="watchcity"]Yup, you missed some points so here: http://ps3.ign.com/articles/762/762108p1.html The PS3 version of Oblivion isn't a simple port of the game either, although players who have picked up the 360 version will be very familiar with the control scheme. For one thing, the PS3 version has been optimized to take advantage of the Cell processor and hardware that the system offers. As a result, the game runs a lot faster than the 360 build. Entering dungeons or buildings results in a load of 3-5 seconds, compared to the 7-10 seconds or longer for the 360 version of the game. Similarly, the amount of framerate drops or hitches that cropped up in the wilderness as you accessed a new area on the 360 have been substantially reduced on the PS3 version. There is a plan to completely eradicate these issues as the game nears release, as well as fixing a number of bugs that were present in the other builds. Kiss the item duplication glitch goodbye. The visual presentation of Oblivion has also been significantly enhanced. While it was a beautiful title on the 360, far off environmental details often displayed low resolution textures. This has been fixed with new shaders dedicated to rendering the foreground cleanly with sharper details, so rocky landscapes now have craggy appearances instead of smooth, non-distinct surfaces. While there is still a fair amount of pop-in that occurs (which can't be helped due to the size of the world), the draw distance is farther than the 360 version. As a result, screens from the PS3 version should approach those from high end PCs running Oblivion, which is an impressive feat.

that's great news for Ps3 owners.

GS will probably find a reason to give a it a lower score than Xbox's version.ParasiteEveLust
GS has got a reason already. ( Greg Kasavin who reviewed Oblivion has left )

So was it fair to compare launch ports of games on a 3 month old system to thier 1 year old counterpart? I detect a double standard....

The improvements for the PS3 version sound nice but I hate to lose all my data from the 360 version, and lack of rumble still frightens me (unless Sony addresses that by then, of course). Honestly, I believe that if Bethesda had made the 360's version of the game more specific to the platform many of the PS3 version's features would have already been implemented. Only thing I've been wondering about is the extra content/expansions for the PS3 version. Has any solid word been spoken of Shimmering Isles coming to the system?? I suppose this could ultimately determine whether I purchase this version or not...thestickman

Shimmering Isles is coming to the PS3 version. it was thought it would be part of the PS3 disk put it looks like that's not happing so it will be a download at some point when who knows.

How can you "FAIRLY" compare the PS3 to the XBOX360 when the XBOX360 had a year extra to fully optimizate its cpu and gpu usage and build a game library?

Plus this game is PORTED, you won't seem competitive graphics in multiplatform games, only in exclusives since they were built from scratch.

the only games you can compare are the games that launch at the same time for 360 and PS3.

Exacly, but it's not till the 360 "fanboys" read something great about the ps3, that they're telling US what's 'fair' and what isn't.

I think it's sweet that the loading times, and distance textures will be improved, but until I hear an announcement of some of the DC and the expansion coming to the ps3 version, I really don't see myself rebuying a year old game.

Dude, of course it is better than the 360 version - they've had nearly a year to tweak the performance.

Thats crap and u know it, They had 3 years to make the game on x360! Do u realy think they are working for 3 years on the PS3 version? It's a port and a good 1. So 3 years making a game for x360 is equal tweaking it on the PS3 in 1 year and in the end u get a better result on.......!

Ok so the Framerate, graphics, and Load times will be better for the PS3...there is still the issue of downloadable content not being able to be run on the PS3, or I should say that only some of it can run all at one time, not all of it. Still no word on bethesda clearing this up yet?RabbidDawg
Graphics are not better! Bethsadia aplied the same new code to the 360 in an update, so texture, lighting and draw distance are equal.

If you're going to proclaim the superiority of one console's version of a game over anther, you should be in SW. Thank you.
