I am so sick of the ported garbage that continues to make its way to the PS3. Ubisoft has done it before (R6V was good though) and EA is notorious for doing this. If you must get a football game get NCAA, and if you cannot justify the $60 PS3NCAA then get the PS2 version. Better yet wait and get Warhawk or another game and boycott EA altogether.

Madden is EAs moneymaker. Do not buy it this year until they get their act together as a way of showing how displeased you are with their mediocre PS3 garbage. It is bad for the PS3 in general (USA Today made a major article about this and how the ahem... other version is far superior) as well as for us as consumers as it shows them they can continue this crap. Do not let EA see a triumph of sales on the PS3. In fact don't let them see any at all. If we can hold off on theirGARBAGE Madden for a year then next year we wont have to do this again.

PS. the NFL exclusivity deal was the worst thing to happen to the Madden franchise and continues to demoralize what was once a triumphant series. EA sports shame on you, and how could you honestly screw up a football game that merely gets a facelift every year. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's long story. Basically it was created by a guy named Madden when several NFL games were out. The guy named Madden is also one of the biggest names in announcing for football (and most north american games besides Dick Vitale)

The league is called NFL (National Football League) and the Official name of the game is Madden NFL 2008.

Madden comes from John Madden who used to be a head coach in the NFL and is in the Hall of Fame. He used to play a bigger role in the game including being on the cover.

Gents we are getting off topic. Basically this topic is to raise awareness on the issue of developers abusing porting of multiplat games. EA knows they have the license locked up.

Plain and simply, if you buy the game you are just welcoming another crap version next year because they suckered you into it before. If you want to stop EAs absolute garbage ports dont buy it. PLEASE, I cannot take another year of a worthless PS madden.

Dont kid yourself, with the exception of the exclusive "gang tackling" last year wasnt much better.

I will be boycotting Madden this year (again), but not because of a slower framerate. From the reviews that I have read, the general concencus is that all next-gen versions of Madden are still inferior to themore feature-packed versions of the last generation. I still cannot understand why these newer versions are stripped of the things that greatly extended the enjoyment and replay value of the franchise. Furthermore, EA fails to take full advantage of the online capabilities of the next-gen hardware (online leagues please?). I'd sooner buy Madden '04 than Madden '08 for my PS3.

When it comes to gaming people can't even think for themselves anymore you would rather listen to some dude in media who knows no more than that average dude sitting on the couch.

It's your loss. You can go on boycotting something when it will do no good and I'll be playing the best Madden in years.

I agree GR8_OnE. I havent enjoyed a game of Madden since Madden04 when Vick was on the cover and Playmaker offense! Every since = garbage. Unbelievable garbage. Thing is, its all because of the license which was the worst thing for football gaming ever. I will not buy an EA Madden game until there is competitition and they earn my purchase with a worthwhile title.

Its not my loss though, its you guys' loss. Because you can play the "best madden in years" YO, but you still will get a shafted version next year with less features than there oughta be, slower framerate and not only that (FPS is really not that important to me) stuttering during snaps, hikes, hit sticks, injuries, between plays, certainly is. This reminds me of Madden 06 for the 36 when it was released. Remember it didnt even have challenge the play?

EA blows, you guys are blind, and ultimately everyone loses because the masses blindly buy the same crappy game every year. Innovation and actually making a better game are dead thanks to the soulless drones you guys are when you line up to buy a recycled game of crap every year. Boycott them for the betterment of football games not just on this platform but on all platforms.

Well let's see. I never bought any of them. I never was interested in football. I'm not going to waste $60 a year to buy the same game as last year. So yeah ok I'll boycott the game(yes $60 for a game that isn't the same game as the one last year).

Oh and to all you Madden fans the new modes will disappear next year and prepare to wait till the PS4 and the Xbox720 to get a new mode.

If you get the other10's ofmillions of people to boycott the game, then maybe you'd have a point. Until you do that, I'll have fun playing the game and enjoying it for what it is, not what it isn't. To take a cue from today's most popular sports cilche, it is what it is.

if you are a ps3 owner, what camp do you belong in??? either you belong in the camp that bought a ps3 because you believe it to be a superior piece of hardware easily capable of playing games at over 30fps and therefore complaining makes sense. or, you belong in the camp that paid $600 for a machine that can't run madden at 30 fps ro devs didn't try hard enough to make it better, so you don't complain and take it for what it is. why bother spending $600 for a ps3, plus $60 for the game? seems like overspending to me if you are comfortable with the status quo. you might as well stick to the $120 ps2 and $30 version of the ps2 madden. I don't know that a boycott will do much, but don't dump on people for expecting more because they should.

No Madden did not create the game. He's not a programmer, he was the Raiders head coach. He had input in some plays and basically was the spoke person for the game. Not many football games were out when Madden debuted on the Sega Genesis back in the early 90's.

Fair enough... I was trying to explain it as easily as I could, spokesperson is a better word for it. I believe there was a football game that was called NFL something in the early 90s, thats why they called it Madden.

First of all, I don't belong to any "camp". I don't give a crap about what's better, I care about having fun. And second of all, don't tell me whatI can or can not say on a public forum. And third, you can sit there and talk all you want... but the fact is I'm right. You won't change anything, it's a business predicated on numbers and the PS3 doesn't have them right now.

So while I enjoy a game that is scoring in the realm of very good games (with an average in the mid 8's), that I already have enjoyed (tellme have you played the game?) you can sit there and not play and do a senseless boycott that won't do anything. It's your loss.

What is everyone gripping about? Didnt GS give both the xbox 360 and PS3 version of Madden 08 an 8.5. From what I understand there isnt much difference between them.

take it personally if you want, it wasn't directed at anybody. there were actually other posters who were griping about complaining and not just on this thread. you didn't really read my post did you...i agreed with the sentiment that a boycott probably won't do anything, but the guy makes a good point and has every right to complain.further, i made no comparisons to the ps3 being superior to anything, my point is that at $660+, we deserved more than 30fps. iown both consoles, i have no stake in whats "better," so don't put words in my mouth. lastly, don't think a boycott makes sense? why even bother reading the post not to mention getting all bent out of shape about it.

My bad, I must have mis-read your post. This isn't a personal attack, but it is difficult to read withthe lack of grammar in your post. You probably don't care, and I don't either really... but that's where I may have misintrepeted things ;) This all started with me simply saying, "It's your loss." And then thethread creatorstated thatit's our loss. He goes on to berate people who feels differently than he does. You argue about me "dumping on someone" for wanting more, yet he is the one who started the dumping by calling people "blind" and "soulless drones."

Simply put... the way I see it, and the way I believe it actually is, is I am without a doubt gettinga game that I will thoroughly enjoy (albeit probably not as good as one could possibly get). How much that matters to one (IGN for example) may not matter muchto another (me and gamespot). And anyway you see it, apersonal boycott will not do anything, and the thread creator will lose outon a game that a ton of people will enjoy.

And one last thing I'd like to add to this discussion is that boycotting a game will actually have the opposite effect. If the game doesn't sell, they will just put less work into it. Right now the US PS3 userbase is small, and this game has very little international appeal outside of the US. With the amount of games this will sell worldwide on the PS3, if you look at the grand scheme of things we probably got a better game than we should have.

I'd also like to add that I guarantee that The Show wasn't as good as it could be either, and that's a first party game. It's not EA, it's not Ubisoft, and it's not even Sony. It's the numbers. So one could boycott, or whine about things all they want... or they can enjoy what are some very good games on the PS3 and weather the storm until sales increase, which will coincide with the quality of games increasing.

You guys are all sad. What do you expect EA has released 2 maddens in 9 short months it took EA 2 years to get Madden running well on the 360. Madden 08 on PS3 is a whole lot better then Madden 07 on PS3. You can most likely expect next years Madden to be running much better. Everyone wants everything right away, that is not how everything works in life. It usually takes companies a year before you see high quality games for a system. The 360 was the exact same way and everyone forgets that. Just this year did developers understand how to program games the right way on 360 and I am sure starting with games released this fall for PS3 will see alot better games come out and as developers learn to tap into the PS3 things will look better. I have played both versions of Madden and in fact Madden is my favorite game I buy each year, the PS3 is still equally as fun and playable as the 360 version. All you guys should worry about is if games are good and are fun. 30fps or 60fps has nothing to do with a game being good or fun. Everyday someone moans and groans about the PS3 and the 360 and it makes me laugh. People need to get a life and play games more instead of come on here and complain. By now everyone should know what each sytem offers and what will offer in the future. Personally I thing the PS3 will pull away from the 360 after 1 more year, when better games come out and developers geta better understanding of the PS3 hardware. These things take time, I support my PS3 for the long haul not for right now. I knew what I was getting into when I bought my PS3 and I knew I would have to wait a bit for good games. I do not regret owning a PS3 and I like the PS3's future better then the 360. You can not expect a game that was orignially developed for the 360 to take advantage of the 360 hardware to run better on the PS3 after EA has had time to work on the 360 for 3 years. If 30 fps bothers you that much then go buy a 360 and play it on there and please stop the whinning, it gets old.

I get the feeling that the TC probably bought All-Pro and thinks it's a better game. lol

As far as boycotting, do you think EA is going to feel the hurt at all? Do you really think that will give them more incentive to make next years on PS3 better?

I think they'll look at the sales numbers and say "wow there are a lot more sports fans with 360s compared to ps3s, maybe we should keep focusing on that one" and Peter Moore will be in heaven. lol

Who decided to have media coverage everywhere? Us gamers or...the media. Gamers have lined up for madden year after year (personally ive never liked madden). Its the media that hypes it and makes it seem like the biggest madden yet. The media tells us whats hyped and awesome. Its sad but true
