Well it seems fair. Lair is actually just a bad game. Please face the facts people.bobaban
mmm have you ppls no faith? read the player reviews. this game does NOT look all that bad, just takes some getting used to. and anyways, lucas said he liked it ATM, doesnt necessarily mean a flop....
wow i never though lair will flop this bad. I was really excited for this game i thought it will get AA. I still might pick it up when it goes into the bargin bin at wal mart. The two things that i hate in games are bad camera and bad controls and lair has both of them!! I dont really care if its repetitive or not.
this is just dissapointing.

Eh... I just said the same thing to Kevin and he told me, "Keep playing." So... Anyway, what I'm most concerned about is the level with spotlights. If I can't pass that level without blaming the controls, then I know I'll end up liking the game. It's just something you'll either get the hang of or don't (according to Factor 5). Can't play anymore of it right now, though.
It's funny how alot of games on the PS3 have one shining example of a certain aspect and others don't quit catch on. Lair doesn't have good controls with the sixaxis yet Warhawk works just fine. Resistance and Warhawk have nearly lag free online play but others don't. NBA 07runs on 60 fps yet Madden 08 only runs at 30 fps. Not to say that NBA 07 was the greatest game though.Correyov31I think Warhawks sixaxis controls work worst than Lairs.

Actually I'm just going by what other reviewers said. I turned the motion axis off. It works ok for me but my PS3 sits at an angle. It does just take some getting used to though

"Anyone who doesnt like Lair basically just sucks at the game."
The worst comment I've heard so far.

while it might be a little...."vulgar" way to state it its so true. All the "game-crippling" problems I have fixed by just getting better at the game.It doesn't deserve a 4.5 beacause they say the controls suck. The controls just take getting used too. It's not everyday that you get games like this. All this shotter games have the same control scheme when you play them. I can't believe it got that low. They just didn't give the game a chance. It's is so fun. I give it a 9.0 tops. look at the plsyer reveiws and other websites. They are alot better. Gamespot really shouldn't review games if they don't know how.
watch Halo3 get a 9.5. Just because it's halo and not because its new and fresh. Bet it takes no risk.
It's too bad the majority of the reviewers aren't enjoying this game, I was really looking forward to it, but I'm doubting I'll buy it based on what I've seen/read. I'll probably give it a rent to see for myself first.
i urge you to rent it at least, and read the manual or control options fully. but its not just that, there are certain manueavers you do to make the game just work for you. Like use the brakes to do quick turns, or even teh quick 180 degree manueaver, and targetting is sporadics so you can rack up the scroes obviously reviewser missed this point in the game. It's too bad the majority of the reviewers aren't enjoying this game, I was really looking forward to it, but I'm doubting I'll buy it based on what I've seen/read. I gotta agree with a lot of the posts from people who have played the game, the controls feel wierd at first, but you can get used to them. The first mission is really easy to pass, and after that the training grounds are open, asit says in the manual I strongly urge you to practice in the proving grounds.
No I am not saying the controls are perfect, they definitely take getting used to, but they do work. The framerate andtearing complaints are very fair criticisms.
If you are interested in this game, give it a try. Make sure to spend a good 30 minutes or so doing the training missions before you try to move on past the 1st level. It will become more comfortable.
I didnt even know that extra traiing missions opened, i just did the fly by for the rings then read the manual. Even then Im still getting silver medals on the first play through. Its just immature video gamers (do not read this as young, just more in-experienced gamers and yes thats right I am calling IGN and all professional reviews inexperienced or at least without a true passion for video games)I gotta agree with a lot of the posts from people who have played the game, the controls feel wierd at first, but you can get used to them. i was planning on getting this game but now I may wait for a demo, I'm a little disappointed because it looked so promising up until its release.deliveryboy15go rent it now and youll find yourself pleasantly suprised, maybe even to teh point where youll buy it.

You're right, I think I will give it a rent and try it out, it deserves a fair chance. I did not plan to get 99 nights which did not get good reviews but after the demo I bought it. We all have different tastes.

I'll definitely rent it to get my own opinion, after seeing all the negative reviews, it's just made me want to try it myself first before I buy it.
It's great that some people on this forum are going to at least try and not let reviews decide their purchase. I got the game a few hours ago not matter what anyone said, I wanted this game bad! Because I'm an expertof the motion sensing, like a few other people on these forums, I'm sure I'm going to like the game alot more than the motion sensing noobs. Sorry if that hurt your feelings but some of us took the time to learn the sixaxis controller becuase of games like Flow, which made us use the motion sensing to play the game (move and such). Little interaction with the motion sensing like Folklore and Resistance uses the feature, but in my opinion, not to it's full potential (both are still great games). I'm one of the few that grasp and support the motion sensing in games and hope more games do so to force people to learn it. It wasn't added to the PS3 as a novelty like people think, there are very few games that truly use it to it's full potential. Games that do use it to it's full potential gain my interest more than other games.
Thusly, I know I'm going to enjoy Lair more than most people on these forums. Just like most people said, once you get use to the controls and take an hour or two of practicing, you'll find that the controls are great. People who try to rush through the game will seriously not like this because they did not put aside the time to learn the controls. New things are accepted by me and I'm sick of using the normal controls that I've been using for more than 10 years. Motion sensing is a great addition in my opinion and I again, have been playing Lair and think it's a Fantastic Game!
My review:
Pros- Get to play as dragons, great graphics, awesome sound, deep story line, good voice acting, fun battles especially bosses, Fully uses Sixaxis contoller!
Cons- a little bit Repetitve, How the hell do I get Gold medals!?, may take alot of people a few minutes (or hours) to get use to the controls (exceptions goes to us that have been using the motion sensing in other games), Maybe a short game?
Score- 8.5
Try the game out before you bash it please, this may not be for everyone but it sure is a wild ride for those who stay playin'!
Thank you for your trolling 3picuri3, thank-you and while your here would you care to tell us how much of Lair you have actually played?Galaxybearhonestly now, 90% of the people bashing LAIR now havent even touched the game. I hope a demo comes out to show people how good the game is, at least for the people who care for this type of game.
[QUOTE="360player_eq12"]high learning curve is all i gotta say....and if that is what the reviews are based on then well take it as you will.3picuri3
so poor design is now a 'high learning curve' to cows? wow. nearly sig worthy :) nearly.
Bugger off please.
I think the Gamespot review was fair.. although I can't tell if the controls are truly that unresponsive since I havent played the game.
However the IGN review was crap. They contradicted everything they said in the preview before their review and didn't explain jack ****, just going on revealing story and missions...
In their preview they said "the controls are really sharp, and you can pull a 180 degree turn by jolting the controller upwards", and then in the review they say nothing about the 180 turn, only saying that you must fly far out into sea and then do a huge turn.... wtf. IGN have totally lost any respect or interest I ever had in them.
Gamespot's review was a third of the length, but at least explained most things, and didn't waste time revealing the plot and the missions... Glad I waited for Gamespot's review of this game. I won't be buying it until they release a demo and I can try the controls for myself.
Seems like there's a lot of trolls in the Lair page. I checked the user score and it was at 7.5 with like 20 votes. then an hour later the score got averaged down to 5.5 with 340 votes. Even though the game gets released next week 340 people seem to have played it already and voted on it. (Not including of course the people who pre-ordered it and are playing it right now.) The game seems to be in a love it or hate it situation but it seems that some people are just "scoring" it without even playing it.aristicero
The "other system we cannot mention here" trolls just want the PS3 to fail..... Hope their console gets 3 red lights for that! :P
I really don't see the issue with the controls. I've now completed the infamous "bridge" mission and didn't have a problem, not even with the targeting. I was able to pick up on the tauros monsters just as easy as anything else and flying across the bridge or between towers was flawless.
I am beginning to think that people that are complaining about the controls either don't want to learn them in the first place and are bitter about not having analog support, have bad coordination which ruins the controls for them, or they are already terrible at games and want to use the controls as an excuse for their lack of skill. It has nothing to do with whether or not you like the game.
Also, how is the game shallow? What does any other flight sim on the market (other than PC titles like Freelancer) do different that Lair doesn't do? It has a wide variety of objectives, epic boss battles, and keeps the action moving from the beginning of a mission to the end.
4.5 ???!!!
What a horrible score ! This has to be one of the biggest FLOPS of the century ! I was looking forward to this game as I liked previous Factor 5 games like Rogue Leader.
