In case any of you, for some ludicrous reason, don't know by now that it will have a 30 day subscription fee, here is the link.(Click 'English' then 'Information.')
That aside, who's buying it regardless?
Just curious.

I'll definitely. I had spend good year with FFXI. MMO games are familiar front for myself, from all the footage I was able to gather so far I highly doubt I'll be buying many games after I get my hands on FFXIV. ;)
I can't stand any of the Final Fantasy games with that whole ivalice alliance theme, hated all the tactics games and FFXII for it, hated vagrant story for it and I hated FFXI for using the same themes setting and races so I don't see myself hating XIV any less.
Final Fantasy XI should have been simply called Final Fantasy: Online and this one should have been called Final Fantasy: Online II... Because XII could have been XI, and XIII could have been XII, while XIV chould have been XIII, leaving XIV to be another single player Final Fantasy. Oh weelll..
Absolutely not. If I were to get it, it would be for PC. But I am not one to pay 10 dollars a month for one game...that I wouldn't ever play that much. Seriously the Square Enix and Final Fantasy names are so rich they don't need to charge, but no, they are money hoarding as much as anyone now.
I'm sure it won't be the same way. World of Warcraft had changed the MMO genre forever, making it easier and much more forgiving on many levels. I'm quite positive FFXIV, like every other MMO after WOW that came out will use and implement many aspects WOW continues to support its gamers with.
I believe in one of the interview I read, FFXIV developers said it themselves, WOW success can't be ignored.
I'm pretty sure FFXIV will be done right, meaning it won't use good old hardcore gameplay elements.

Not a big fan of MMOs.
Btw, Where the hell have you been Scianix? I haven't seen you on PSN in a long time

lol, I thought you knew my PS3 died?
Still trying to get a new one, but it isn't exactly the highest thing on my priority list.
My net connection should be just good enough to play on PS3.
I really did like FF11. I loved the world they created, but it wasnt very newbie friendly game, and the fact you have to have a party with you at all times to actually get anywhere kinda blowed.
Hearing they are having the same world, and improving on 11, im really excited again. Just quit WoW, got uber boring. Most likely would pick it up.

I knew it died but I wasn't sure if you had it back by now. I guess it isn't a top priority for you until Bayonetta comes up. Speaking of which, I finally got around to playing the demo. I'll be pre ordering it sometime this week

Oh no, I didn't send it in. I'd rather pay $300 for a brand new one with a chance of high reliability than pay $150 for a refurb that may only last 1 - 2 months.
Glad you got around to playing Bayonetta. I've already got my versions pre-ordered, all I need is a system to play them on.
Oh snap! Nobou has the composing reigns again!?
My joygasm for this game just got +5.
I LOVE his work with the earlier final fantasies. He really is a legend.
Also, sucks to hear about your ps3 Scianix, i had no idea =((. Ill add you on psn when you get your new one =)
Creators said it has some sort of WoW inspiration. I always liked most FF games, depends on how good it is and the fee, don't plan on paying for another WoW. I didn't even bother with FFXI, 500 bucks just to get the game+ HD (on ps2) at the time was a rip off (in my currency that is) plus paying an additional dollar for each extra character is just lame together with monthly subscription. Next in game currency won't exist, want a new weapon/magic/summon? Pay in dollars suckarrrr >_>.
It's okay that WoW has some lame micro-transactions but unlimited characters you can have on any server. Edit: okay maybe not unlimited but quite a bunch.
OHHH this better not be as addicting as 11. i wasted most of my life on that. Truthly i dont think square enix should make buyers pay for a 100 dollar game and pay for a subscription fee.
I made it a committment to myself to not pay for subscription-based games, as I already pay up-front for the game itself. I support a payment system like Guild Wars, where the game's purchase is the only purchase needed to play the game, with expansions being released to generate revenue. Another system I vouch for is a micro-transaction system. The game is free to play online, but there are monetary transactions for impatient players (all items, quests and classes remain accessible and unlockable to all, but people who are willing to pay can get boosts through micro-transactions). It also helps drive the in-game market economy.Brainhunter
My view is more simplistic.
Gaming = Fun/relaxing/entertainment
Gaming does not = bills. Bills suck
Bills = Rent, Hydro, Phone, ISP and food
A game becoming a monthly bill doesn't fold well in my books. Especially since I tend to shift between games I play for certain periods of time. Which would eventually = paying for a game I haven't played in months. But might be stuck with some kind of re-activation fee when I feel like playing it again.
So, point being. Game + Bill = Bad:lol:
I would but.. pay to play ;_;
Do you think there will be an option to like.. buy one month things from the PSN store? Like I don't want my credit card on it all the time so it always gets charged at the end of every month even when I don't play. Being able to buy a monthly thing would be great and I would get it. ^_^

Well FF14 is also on the PC, and almost ALL MMORPGs on the PC have monthly fees. World of Warcraft, Everquest, Warhammer Online, etc.[QUOTE="Abecale"][QUOTE="DevilDude3232"]

Ah yeah, great idea.Count me out. It just felt not right not being able to play (for nostalgic feeling) after the game phased out or server closed. No to mention your ownership for items, equipments and properties will gone and vanish after grinding so much. These ownership thingy are important to me for a game. Then again, i'm guilty for almost devoured by WOW addiction. I've promised myself to stay away from any MMORPG.
I'll be getting it for sure. I highly enjoyed FFXI, but joined the party way too late so it was hard for me to do much stuff. I had friends to play with, but we could never get our times right. I'm looking forward to being one of the first wave of players to join in FFXIV.
i played ff11 on and off for about 6 years so i will be looking to 14.. i mean i loved ff11 so much that game was so much fun.
but my only worry is that they might change the formula too much or make it more WoW or guild wars type.. ehh.. and i just couldnt get into WoW with the hardcore killing the same monsters over and over and over and the same quests in every effin area.
ffxi had very detailed and different quests at least. i wanna see the reviews for ff14
I definitely want to buy it, but we will see how things go. It doesn't look like I'll have any money so I might need to wait until after I graduate and have a steady income. :(
