Hey,

This question concerns online gaming. While playing games online for periods of time, do you stick to one game, and one game only, or do you play more than one game semi-equal amounts of time? For me, I don't have a PS3 yet, but in the past with Xbox and Xbox 360, I usually stick to one main game, and them play a little bit of other games in other genres. Ussually, my main game is a shooter, it was Halo 2, then for 360, Halo 3, then COD 4, then back to Halo 3. I usually stuck to one main game, and if I would play anything other than it, it would be sports like Tiger Woods or a racing game like Forza. The phazes for me generally last a while until I feel like moving on, but I would usually never mix and match shooter or similar games.

-Thanks

About a year ago I would say I play my games(online or singleplayer) one at a time, mainly because people just like to play with their new toys more than the old ones which always gets neglected(I just reminded myself of toy story lol). But over the year I got a job for the first time and I could afford more games and now I just changed to the moral of playing whatever I feel like. I've playing R2 a bit but recently I went back to CoD4 after like a 10 month break.

I purposely try to have a diverse gaming collection that is full of action/adventure games, shooters, RPG's, some sports titles, platformers, racers, a rhythm game, and strategy games. I go out of my way to make sure I don't buy too many shooters. I really wanted Resistance 2, but I knew that Killzone 2 comes out a few months later. So I passed on Resistance 2 and Call of Duty WaW and got Left 4 Dead to satisfy my co-op needs. I still play CoD 4 to get my online shooter fix.

I play whatever floats my boat at the moment. I've been wanting to play a good RPG for a while (Oblivion didn't cut it for me) so today I bought Mass Effect for 15 bucks. Great game...I'll be sure to pick up Valkyria Chronicles when the price drops to around 30-40 bucks.

Variety is a good thing. Here's what I am playing:

Metal Gear Solid 4- Anytime is a good time to play the reigning GOTY. This game has so much replay value. So many different paths you can take...each of them is very rewarding.

Call of Duty 4- Anytime I want to play online multiplayer I fire this one up.

Left 4 Dead- Anytime I want to play co-op, I play this.

Mass Effect- My current RPG of choice. This is the game that is currently getting my most attention. Although I admit that I replay Final Fantasy VII every couple of years for the nostalgic value.

PixelJunk Monsters- When I'm feeling strategic. I've actually been playing this one A LOT lately...I like Civilization Revolution a lot too, but my girlfriend stole it because she is addicted to the game...

Ninja Gaiden Black- When I'm in a hack and slash mood...I tried Ninja Gaiden 2, but this one is better. I think it's better than Devil May Cry 4 also...

Little Big Planet- When I'm in the mood for something simple, something new, and something to put a smile on my face. It's the perfect game to play after you've been fragged 20 times in Call of Duty...I'm in the process of working on a level for my girlfriend too so I play this game when I'm feeling creative.

I'm looking for a racing game, but won't settle for Burnout Paradise. I really dislike the open world. I was thinking about Wipeout HD, but I'm not that excited about that one either. I'm probably going to have to wait for Gran Turismo 5...

I usually rotate between 2-4 main games at a time. right now I've been playing Lair, Resistance 2, LBP, andValkyria Chronicles. and occasionally I'll play a PSN game like SSDHD, PJ eden, or calling all cars inbetween. mostly I've been playing lair beating a level or 2 each day then either following it up with SP resistance or jumping into LBP. I did, however, play all the way through valkyria chronicles without playing another game, I'm on my second play through right now.

@knicknut17

I agree variety is a really good thing and I'm trying to keep a good balance in my collection, last gen I had almost all rpg's so I'm mixing it up this time. although this gen i seem to be gravitating towards platformers action/adventure and shoot em' ups (so great to see a real revival of this genre). so basicly more of the types of games I played durring the NES days. The release of Killzone 2 was also a big concern for me when I bought resistance 2 but I think I'm going to buy both and that will probably be all the FPS games I buy this gen (FPS isn't my favorite genre, but i really liked R2's co-op and K2 seems like it will have really good enemy AI).

Last gen, I never had more than one 'new game' at a time, so all of my attention would go to that, and I would enjoy whatever I was playing to the max.

This gen, I've decided to go back and pick up a lot of the classics from the PS2 era that I missed out on, so I have a lot more 'new games' to play, but I still try to take it one game at a time. When you're staring at about 20 games that you need to finish, it can be a little overwhelming, and it wouldn't be as fun if I tried to split my attention between several games and try to play them for the first time through together.

Also, online play has distracted me from finishing the singleplayer for a lot of my games, so I'm taking a break until I finish all the games I have before I go back online, which will be mainly with Resistance 2 and LittleBigPlanet.
