Right, i'm getting a PS3 for easter and I need to find out these things

1.Would my PS3 work if I used an ethernet cable from my computer into the ps3?my computer is connected by a usb port into the modem on my downstairs computer. so would that work?

2. Do PS3 games work on Standard Definition? I have been so worried about this because I have waited so long for my PS3 and I don't want togo out and look for a HD television!

Please can you reply to one or both of these questions please? Thanks

1> no, you must hook your modem to a router, then hook your ps3 and computer, etc into the router (I assume it is a cable modem). I suppose that you could leave the computer hooked up as it is, but you need to hook up a router to you modem and then your ps3 to the router.

2> yes, SD will work just fine

Well for your first question... do you mean the usb cord is going from the modem to the computer and thats how you get internet? If so it will not work on the ps3... you need a ethernet cord that plugs from the modem to the ps3.... and for your second question yes! i use a SD tv as well

1. Hmm i think it is possible but it is a HUGE pain! You really gotta know your stuff to do that! I usued to have a 360 b4 i traded it for a ps3 and man hooking up the 360 through the ethernet was a PAIN! How is your pc connected through the interent? Wirelessly or ethernet?

2. And yes u can play games on Sandard tv's! I do it when my brother is watching tv on the flat screen!

Yes and Yes I have done both these things in the past. Still using an SDTV now and its fine. Im on wireless though. But I used to use ethernet to PC, PC to usb modem. The modem thing doesnt work as well as it could, but it does work.

yeah I suggest just buying a cheap very long ethernet lead and connecting your ps3 straight to your modem.

I actually do that, using my PC's internet and share it across to my PS3 via Ethernet.
