You should check it out if you have access to any of those systems. I know you could buy the pc version new for like 10 dollars off of Amazon. It's made Quantic Dream, the same developer behind Heavy Rain.

oh ok so is heavy rain supposed to be a sequel? No, it's supposed to be Quantic Dream's masterpiece. They said in several interviews that they took the things they did wrong in Indigo Prophecy and refined them for Heavy Rain. They are two separate games. Indigo Prophecy (to me, at least) starts a lot stronger than it ends. I won't spoil the end, but there is just some lame supernatural stuff that just doesn't go with the rest of the story. That's why I am excited for Heavy Rain: no out-of-place or forced supernatural elements; just a killer on the loose.
I think more people ask about other people's opinions on Heavy Rain than any other game on here.
It seems to be the only game with so many mixed reactions to.
Doesn't look that good to me. Voice acting is horrible, dialogue laughable, and quick time events are not a substitute for game play. Was hyped for this until they started releasing extended videos of the action. The original tech demo looked more interesting than the game.edthetinkerAh, you gave Killzone a 9/10. Is there anyone that is not looking forward to the game that doesn't want to shoot things like mad for Gameplay?

Expanding on what SC said, I just thought I had to point this out. You can't say that voice acting is horrible and dialogue is laughable, then give Killzone a 9. I know you're entitled to your opinion, but... c'mon now.
Also, QTE isn't a substitute for gameplay, I agree, but the game isn't just QTE. That's a side thing, a thing that Quantic Dream didn't have to do, a thing that keeps their game fresh and different from all the other point and click adventure games in history.
The actual gameplay part is about going around, interacting with characters, finding clues and developing the plot.
That is the heart of this genre of video gaming.
Some people around here need to get that through their thick skulls.

I completed the campaign, and the dialog comes across as either stilted or part of a huge inside joke we don't get. I mean, the opening scene, where your ship dodges debris, and we get, "Hey man, that was f*cked up!"
Sounds like some of the fraternity boys around campus...

It isn't even that... I can understand swearing, given their circumstances (battlefield, wartime, etc.) but it was just so gratuitous and unnecessary at times. All the characters swore - there wasn't one person who rarely swore or had some kind of moral code about swearing or anything like that.
They all said the same swear words and that made it seem like the script was written by a 12 year old with a potty mouth. Rico did swear the most, but no one likes him so it doesn't matter.
Real gamers know how good this game is going to be. I've already pre-ordered mines. The only people that make bad comments on Heavy Rain are the ones that have never played Indigo Prophecy (e.g. they don't know what they are talking about). Heavy Rain GOTY 2010!
I'm so-so about it. I like the concept, but I get the feeling it could get old pretty fast.
It'll probably come down to the reviews for me.

It will all ultimately lie in how interesting you find the story.

But that's all a product of bad dialogue. The actual voice acting wasn't bad, especially considering how bad the dialogue was. You're looking at what they're saying and not how they're saying it.I so cant wait for this.
And on that subject of that poster, Im seeing the division between the two groups of mixed reactions.
People who played and know what adventure games, click and point games are, and people that just dont get it/never played them.
This might be a generational gap thing, im not sure. But the main basis of the arguement lies with people either seeing gameplay footage, and going 'What the hell? This doesnt look fun". Or they just arent really getting into the mature noir Quantic Dream type story.
Also, People who havent playing Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy), against those who have.
People who played and know what adventure games, click and point games are, and people that just dont get it/never played them. This might be a generational gap thing,AbecaleI think this is exactly it... Quantic Dream is the only, ONLY mainstream developer that's still doing video games in the point and click adventure genre. The thing is, people see the QTE and think "LOLOL WAT!!! QTE R NOT AKCHUAL GAEMPLAY!!!! Is there anyone that is not looking forward to the game that doesn't want to shoot things like mad for Gameplay? Killzone 2 wasn't a "story" game. I wouldn't judge Modern Warfare by its story in the same way that I won't judge Heavy Rain by its gunplay and multiplayer. Get a grip and realize games are judged by what they are suppose to be. Heavy Rain is supposed to be a story game and it is written like crud with awful voice overs. I'll give you the quick version of the rant since i have class in a bit.... Games are about gamplay. Good storytelling is much easier to find in great books and the rare movie. IF a game claims to be a "story" game I will still hold it to the standard I hold all forms of narrative. KZ2 wasn't a story game it was a shooter. Heavey Rain... I've said my peace.

Misleading to say it's a generation gap "thing." It's a preference "thing." I'm older than most on here, have been playing games my whole life, and I guess I am looking for something different than Heavy Rain fans are looking for. It's a bummer because the tech demo had me sold for day one. Everything they showed after the tech demo pushed me away from the game. To turn this into a testosterone issue is also misleading and shows some of your personal insecurities. I wanted a well crafted story from heavy rain. I could have played the whole game without a gun and been happy. I guess I'll continue to read books for story and play shooters/action games when I fire up my PS3/360.
That is the same awful logic that made me waste money on every Silent Hill after the second one. REAL gamers judge each game individually not based on the merits of its predecessors.Real gamers know how good this game is going to be. I've already pre-ordered mines. The only people that make bad comments on Heavy Rain are the ones that have never played Indigo Prophecy (e.g. they don't know what they are talking about). Heavy Rain GOTY 2010!

I have a history of "bleh"ing anyone who doesn't like a unique game/concept for whatever reason they give, but love the has been done before. Like you and Killzone 2. I appreciate your mini-rant, but I'm pretty much going to "bleh" you just for that. Heavy Rain isn't just a game with (for your sake) "horrible (Voice acting) and "dialogue laughable". If it was just that, I wouldn't be supporting it myself, and neither would most of HR's fanbase. Even if I agreed with your preference for script/VA, there's enough unique concepts to grab my interest. I'm not a heavy fan of playing pretty games that have been done 434353 times before. That's why I only own two (very different) shooters. (And overall, very very few games.) So I'm afraid when you tell me to "get a grip", I'd have to grip your opinions. Which I think is "bleh" in this field.SymphonycomethI can live with that. I don't need disciples just people to talk with.
People who played and know what adventure games, click and point games are, and people that just dont get it/never played them.Abecale
I could be wrong, but most of the people who play those adventure games back in the 90's (and enjoy them) will praise Heavy Rain more. I also include the ones who played Indigo Prophecy. Most of the "others" don't even understand what this game is all about IMO
(Sorry about my english)

I agree with you in any way possible.
I'm still on the fence.. I mean, it looks phenomenal and i'm almost positive I'll enjoy it but at the same time, there are so many other games that I know more about and feel much more confident in that will get my money first. If, after GoW 3, FFXiii, GT5, Darksiders, and White Knight Chronicles, I have the money and time to devote to it I'll get it but that's just a decision i have to make.
I haven't personally seen anything negative that will keep me away from purchasing Heavy Rain. The genre is almost forgotten in this FPS era.
It should be a very good game for those gamers who enjoy good story, that's enough for me.

If you think the swearing was bad in Killzone, try Rogue Warrior (dont actually try it), he swears like an idiot almost everytime he gets shot or kills someone. :/
I want it soo badly and I'm sorry David Cage but I wanna play it more then once. Especially if Madison Paige dies lolryrulezWell you have multiple endings to find out.
