I'm definitely getting this game by the way. How is the framerate to you guys? I can't imagine it being that bad, as gamespot gave it a 9.0. They would have torn it apart if it was unplayable.

I feel like people are so pissed with EA right now, that if they see at least one frame skip, they automatically say "the game sucks, don't buy it, and don't support EA".

Just because they took a little longer to get the blue ray version out doesn't mean it got skimped on. I can't wait to get it.

I'm not jumping on the "screw EA" bandwagon, because they didn't even make the game, they simply proted it to bluray, and seem to have done a pretty dang good job considering the game wasn't designed for that format from the beginning. Even if there are framerate issues, they could be alot worse. than a frame or two skipping here and there.

Just look at Assassins Creed, and how people say the game is freezing on them. No one complains about that, just because "it's happening on the other system too".

Doesn't look all that appealing to me. Graphics seem oddly dated to me when comparing to some newer titles like COD4/AC

Isn't that a no brainer? Source engine came out 4 years ago so its only common sense that its engine looks dated to newer engines.

I only played Portal up to this point. There are some slow downs but nothing major. Still, it's unfortunate they can't properly port a 3 year old engine to work on a system far superior to to of the line PCs of the time.

I have this game and so far there is no issue problem none of that. I don't understand why others think its a bad port just cuz its from EA , their the ones missing out not me or the ones that have it.

I been playing it for a whle now, like 2 to 3 hours in. In half life 2 there are pretty mcuh no frame rate probs, secondly Team Fortress looks really good I was surprised. But I will warn you, Half life 2 looks like an Xbox Upscaled port on PS3 or 360.

Little update: Ep 1 has some serious slow downs, especially when you're on that one long elevator. Also some stutters when a lot of fire and particle effects are on the screen.

their are some framerate problems and it is not as good as the 360 version I have to say (only technically). EA did mess up because they are lazy. I'm still going to get the game though.

played a few hours of half life 2 and upto chamber 16 on Portal. No real problems yet.

Worth a 9.0 here at Gamespot easily

Are they really that bad though? I mean a little slow down here and there shouldn't stop the others from getting this game. I think it's a great addition to the library.

according to many review sites

(im mainly comparing Eurogamers review)

is that half life 2 doesnt have frame-rate problems at all (or they are very rare)
in episode 1 they are a bit worse and more frequent
and in episode 2 they are really frequent and really bad
so i would like to see what its like when someone gets to episode 2
portal and team fortress are a bit alright apartently and has minor lag apartently.

However the graphics is supirior than the 360 version

the 360 versions is lighter, less colour, has no anti-aliseing (dont know how to spell that) so AA and lighting is a bit dimmed down

the ps3 version is dark, a bit more colour, Has 2 AA and lighting is nice and bright (but can hurt your eyes aparently)

though the ps3 version takes longer to load and has frame-rate problems in the later episodes
where as the 360 is faster to load and has minor lag in the later episodes

the question is, is why didnt EA take out AA and dimmed down the lighting a bit
cause that surely would improve the frame-rate and make it simular to the 360 (and only a tiny bit more worse than that)
and they would of lowered the resolution and let the console then upscale it
but EA where lazy and didnt do it

well at least the Quick-saving on the PS3 version is nice, but i can imagine that the 360 version would get a update and put it in.

Because EA is just as untalented as Valve when it comes to working on different hardware? 360 is very easy for people that write PC/MAC games. I've heard the the 360 is very forgiving, just like the PC. So it doesnt' take a rocket scientist to see that Valve and EA just don't have the programming talent required to port years upon years of PC/360 code to a completely different platform. GN can diss the PS3 all he wants, but I seriously think it's a case of sour grapes. Maybe they should hire smarter programmers? Oh wait, I think they are probably all at Naughty Dog and Insomniac. hmm. (oh, and Infinity Ward of course :)).

Well Valve is quite talented

cause when half life 2 first came out they supported every hardware out there
and thats been continuing with episode 1 and 2

And yh the PC and 360 are very simular to develop for, thats why many PC developers have now kinda gone to make games for the 360 cause they are they same and makes their lives easier by not making lots of hardware supportable and only the 360.

EA is also Talented but only a few teams are
the Burnout team is and the Skate team is as well, and a few others.
its just the rest that put the PS3 down.
Gabe can bash the PS3 all he wants yh i know but he bashes the 360 as well, He has said he hates consoles and that the PC is still the best Platform out there, he says he wants to be loyal
He also claimed the reason for the console versions is to get people to buy their franchises more, which has worked a great deal.
They do have smart programmers but remember hardly any of them know how to work a console (Vavles devs i mean) As most of them have worked with the PC all their life.
But i also reckon if Vavle is going to make Console versions of their game then maybe they should hire a seperate console team that can make the game as well but for the consoles. Which they can do cause Vavle is showing in riches thanks to Steam and the orange box
