I have never had a problem with overheating as long as the vents are clean and have some breathing room. I wouldn't worry about buying an intercooler.

No problems here, just keep it cool with some space on each side of the system and you should be fine. My friends and I gamed for about 10 hours since they were over for a visit. From 12 PM to 10PM we ran the PS3 playing various games, and it was warm not HOT..warm

I've tried to play continues long enough to cause a over heating problem a couple of times and it still didn't over heat.

I have small issue of over heating.

If I play certain games my PS3 starts to make loud fan noises, while other times it is usually really quiet.

Hasn't caused trouble for me yet..., but it makes me feel uneasy.

I did a marathon before selling it (waiting for 80 :P) and after playing 10 hours it was as hot as my old fattie after the same time.

I live in the desert and it's summer so the fan on my PS3 is constantly on loud now. It seems to be fine though I've left it on for several days with no issues. What is comfortable for our house temperature is probably what most peoples outside summers are like.

The air that comes out the vents gets plenty hot even after only 10 minutes of being turned on(that sexy ps3 ;)) But I played Oblivion and R6V for like 6 hours and there wasn't any gameplay problems.

Mine was in a closed place so every time I played the fan switched to high gear, but I took it out of the cabin and now it is quiet like a sleeping baby

No, it gets pretty hot in a certain place but it doesn't effect the performance one bit. A lot of people leave their PS3s on 24/7 folding...

Check this. I bought my PS3 on June 27th. When I got back home on the 2nd of July. It's never been off. Either folding, gaming or remote playing. Not a single lockup or error. You money is well spent on this thing.

I live in Australia and have my PS3 on for multiple days in a row during the Australian summer. So in 40'C+ (104'F+) days the only thing my PS3 has done is have the fans kick in at a high speed. An Intercooler is a waste of money IMHO.

That's not an issue, that's your PS3s exhaust system working correctly. If it stayed quiet all the time you would have something to worry about.

Mine's on 8+ hours a day and I have zero problems with it. Overheating is not a problem with PS3's
