I was just wondering if anyone knows if I will need PS+ in order to access to the multiplayer component of a game on my PS3 once the PS4 is launched.

YES playstation plus subscription is now required for Multiplayer on-line games. The PS4 now has pay MP gaming. Keeping servers up and running costs. Sony has been more than fair.
As far as I know, your current PS3 will remain free to play for the online component, as it is right now.
I believe, so far the PS4 is the only console required for the PS+ membership to play the multiplayer. Will this change down to the line? I believe eventually it will as Sony will have to at some point push the PS3 owners to pick up the PS4.
I don't see that happening until few years pass however.

The lack of new games will force PS3 owners to buy a new platform in couple of years. I don't see games staying cross-generational past 2015.

And I don't see people abandoning Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, and Dark Souls II...and don't forget other popular MP games like BattleField,COD and GTA.Â
