Picking White Kight Chronicles over Final Fantasy XIII? Where do you stand?

Is anyone deciding to pick White Knight Chronicles over Final Fantasy XIII as their RPG to buy and play this year? I am and it came after finally realizing I no longer care about the Final Fantasy series, at least the original series. I still enjoy the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles series however. The last FF game I really enjoyed from start to finish was FF9. FFX and FF12 felt like chores at times to the point I didn't even bother finishing FF12. In fact if I hadn't gotten it as a gift from my parents as they knew I was a fan of the series (they got me into it when I was child as they enjoyed and loved Final Fantasy 2(FF4) and 3(FF6) on the SNES) I wouldn't have purchased the game for myself. I think that was the start and knew the desire to wasn't there anymore. I've been reading about FF13 for the longest time. I've seen the video clips, heard the music and in the end it has done nothing for me. I've been a fan of the series since Final Fantasy 1 on the NES. However I think it's time I finally step away from the series even though it could be a great game.

White Knight Chronicles however grabbed my attention the first I saw it when it was possibly going to be a PS3 launch title. It would have bee the reason I picked up the system however it was delayed for the longest time. However finally now that I have a PS3 it's going to have the honor of being the first game I actually purchase for it (the system came with two games however I've only been playing Infamous). Being a fan of Dark Cloud certainly took away any worry I had regarding the developer. The avatar system seems very interesting as does the online play and village building. The giant creatures are a huge plus. The story seems simple enough but I'm sure there is enough room for twist and turns. However the straight forwardness of is something I appreciate. The overall package just feels interesting to me. I've learned a long time ago to trust that gut feeling and that's what I'm getting now regarding the game. I might be disappointed but but I don't think I will be in the end.

I'm curious though if anyoen else has gone through something similar or perhaps might be picking WKC over FFXIII? Not saying one has to pick one over the other but perhaps you prefer WKC over FF this time around?

I plan on getting both, but if I had to choose just one, it'd probably be Final Fantasy. Huge fan of the series. ;)

I'd pick FFXIII 100 times out of 100 times over WKC anyday. Getting both, but I'm just looking forward to XIII so much more.

I will need to sell my wallet, chair, house, this computer I'm typing in, TV, and even PS3 to get all the good games on the PS3, but it will be worth it.

dunno about WKC but since I dont need final fantasy anymore I probly wait until I can get a used one or cheaper in anyway

Im getting neither since that genre does not appeal to me.

I want to get both but i am starting to get worried about the bad FFXIII reviews i have been seeing. I loved Dark Cloud so i must get WKC

It's called being tactical with Paradigm Shift.

TC: Easily Final Fantasy XIII. There really is no question in my mind about that, it's not even a choice. I could care less about what the Japanese gamers on amazin think, I'll think for myself kthx.

Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed Level's 5 work. WKC doesn't interest me too much, prolly a bargain bin title for me. In my opinion, they can keep their White Knight Chronicles and release Dark Cloud 3 already.

Looking forward to WKC more, It just has so much more to offer., (other than Graphix)

They're a month apart, so White Knight Chronicles will be first & FFXlll will come the next month. That's pretty simple, isn't it?

I'll be picking up both, but out of the two i'd probably go with WKC, only because it interests me more.

FF for me, still torn on whether on wanna pick it up day 1 or not though, prolly will lol.

I just watched the FF13 trailer from the Hong Kong PSN store and it just showed all these dramatic scenes between characters with girly music in the back ground. Made it seem like a soap opera more suitable for girls. I've only played FF7 (and Tactics which I really liked) and while it was a good game, I got bored towards the end after the novelty wore off. Overall, I guess I prefer RPGs that offer more choice both in gameplay and in levelling. The cutscenes can be quite good, but if they are just melodramatic fluff it won't appeal to me. I'll have to wait for a review of it now before I know if I'd like it.

As for WKC, I haven't seen too much of it, but I guess it also suffers from lack of choice. I'm pretty sure neither of these games will be as enjoyable to me as Dragon Age is.

From what I have read, White Knight Chronicles is not really that good of a game. Famitsu gave it a low score and it has sold poorly. I will be getting Final Fantasy XIII over White Knight Chronicles.

Quality RPG's are hard to come by this generation and I certainly won't miss out on White Knight Chronicles or Final Fantasy XIII.

I've never played one of the main Final Fantasy games for more than 10 minutes, but I'm pretty confident that I will like FF13.

WKC...I'm not quite as sure that I will enjoy it (compared to FF13), but I believe I will have both games by the end of the year.

I'll be getting both, neither day 1 though. I look for deals when I buy games.

As of now, WKC, FFX was the last FF i liked... I'm skeptical about FF13.

I bought FFXIII, I'll be buying it again, and I'll be passing on the mediocre WKC.
