[QUOTE="Fightingfan"]WKC just because ff13 will lack towns and NPCs. Young_CharterSERIOUSLY?????
Yes. Why does this surprise people still? Did FFX have many towns and NPC's? No, not compared to VII, VIII, and IX. It had a coupe of large cities, and few settlements. Did XII? Nope. It had a couple of large cities, and a settlement or two, but not much in the way of actual towns. FFXIII is much the same, a large city or two (Cocoon is enormous, don't forget) and a settlement here and there. At least a good excuse is provided for it, as such a reason can feasibly tie in with the storyline. Think of Final Fantasy IV, V, and VI. Plethora of towns, villages, and castles. VII, VIII, and IX - a good amount, but far less compard to the last gen. X and XIII - even fewer than the PS1 games', but still nobody seemed to notice. FFXIII - people go nuts because there are few towns to explore. Go figure.
For someone to pass up a Final Fantasy, or a role playing game in general because there isn't many towns or NPC's to mindlessly converse with is a little misguided.

And I wasn't really referring to you with what I said, just at the people who write it off because it's linear, as if it's a new trend.

ooo lol hahaha and noctis ?Noctis is the guys name, thats in your avatar...From vs 13.
Also, i would pick up both, both are very similar but very different, Level 5 RPG's have been more about Action RPG, then command or turn-based, as well as rewarding exploration.
The towns thing is kinda 'meh' for me. I expected it to be honest, the traditional JRPG's of the 90's are dying, the trend now is fast paced action RPG's. The last real JRPG was probably Persona 4. Im stoked for FF13 though, as well as Versus 13. They both look like they have potential, Few towns and as well, dont forget, you only shop at save points, there are some stores in cocoon (i think) but the 'save point store' is a virtual Internet store, as well as every NPC you meet has voiced dialogue, so its a fair trade to me.

o they gave him a name now ? wow...why it had to be a weird name like that......lol but hey well at least we get a FF game.Hmmm, 29/40 Famitsu game versus a 39/40 one. I think I'll get the 39/40 one.NotAFurry
So you let reviews decide what game you should buy. Famitsu also gave Haze a 36/40 or something like that so I guess you dhould buy that too.
I am not saying either game is bad but buying a game just because 1 review on WKC says it's just ok is meaningless.
From what I have read, White Knight Chronicles is not really that good of a game. Famitsu gave it a low score and it has sold poorly. I will be getting Final Fantasy XIII over White Knight Chronicles.
Yojimbo25
According to Level 5, they had more traffic than expected for the online so that must mean it sold well in their eyes. Over 300,000 in one territory isn't bad at all. Yep I guess you are right it sold so poorly that they decided to make a second one just to get the name out there and hope that it will be a success the second time.

Famitsu gave FF12 a perfect score of 40/40. Yet me and many others dislike it. Some love it, some hate it. Reviews are just opinions. shouldnt let it stop you from trying games that look interesting to you.

+1
that and it seems as in FFXII you barely control the other characters, giving them commands
It's called being tactical with Paradigm Shift.
TC: Easily Final Fantasy XIII. There really is no question in my mind about that, it's not even a choice. I could care less about what the Japanese gamers on amazin think, I'll think for myself kthx.
Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed Level's 5 work. WKC doesn't interest me too much, prolly a bargain bin title for me. In my opinion, they can keep their White Knight Chronicles and release Dark Cloud 3 already.
The Dark Cloud 3 wait is going to be longer because of the WKC 2 sequel.
To answer the question, I don't know. The battle seems really cool in WKC but everytime I watch a youtube video, no one ever does any cool combos even though the devs have expained and showed they were in there. I watched someone play the JP demo on youtube for like half an hour and it just seems more of been there done that. It also seems like they are trying to be like FF7 too much with the soldiers and trains. I am pretty sure the game will at least be good and it will get 9.9's through the roof everwhere.
Also I am not paying $100 for a game. The JP version costs 9,500 yen or whatever so if you knock off 2 place values, that would be 95 dollars or so. I don't care if it is FF I am not going to pay anymore for it than I would any other game. I still want to play both games. I am more of a new IP person this generation. Sequels are cool but I already know what they are. New IP's I am more interested in because you don't know them and it's nice to become a fan of multiple franchises. I can see why people would choose the sequel because they know they will like it and there is less of a probability they will regret their purchase.

The sticker price on FFXIII is only $59.99 here (NA). It's what I paid for a pre-order at gamestop, and it's the same price on amazon as well.
@Young_Charter: He's had a name for a long while now, my friend. Full name is Noctic Lucis Caelum, he's a prince, and the last heir of the Caelum Dynasty. Go look some Versus stuff up, it's shaping up to be quite interesting.

I would really treat WKC as a spiritual successor to dark cloud. I mean, we even get the georama feature in our edition.

FFXIII is real time. There is no "turn" taking. However, it is command based.
Sorry. Got mixed up there in regarded to turn based there. I usually think of real time as you able to attack at any time you want like in Fallout 3, Zelda, etc. Even auto attacks in MMORPGs are more real time. Anything else where you can't do that but your chance to attack, to even issue commands is based on a timer of sort is turn based to me. That's how I always looked at the difference.[QUOTE="gamenerd15"]

Ok, my fault. Normally when they say something cost X in Japan, if you knock off 2 place values that is how much it ends up in NA dollars. That is cool then.
